Can anyone advise if there will be a problem with the biometrics appointment if the only identification is a passport that doesn't show the new married name? I'm afraid my wife's new passport won't be in hand when she needs to go for her biometrics.

You can present your marriage certificate which will reflect the change.

That's the plan at this point, lacking any better ideas. But the marriage certificate doesn't show her new name, only her maiden name. It does show my last name of course, which I'm happy to say is the name she took. Perhaps I should point out that we're in California where as I understand it, she makes the new name legal simply by using it.

Many of marriage certificates don't show new last name on, just bring and tell them that you are using last name of your husband!!!

But don't go without marriage certificate!!!

My Merriage Certificate only shows my maiden name too, but the important thing is, it shows my husbands last name and that is all is needed.

Don't worry. My passport only has my maiden name as well and I am using the MC to proof my namechange.

I have a DL though and a military ID card with my new last name that I can use and I got both with my passport and showing the marriage c.

Why are you not getting a state ID for your wife? THat might make a lot of things easier for her...

I had to change my social security to be able to use my new name in California. The Marriage Certificate was the proof needed by Social Security to make the change.

I went to my biometrics appointment with my passport (on my maiden name) and i didn't have any problem. I brought along my marriage certificate but they didn't asked for it. As long as you have the appointment letter, you'll be okay.

My wife just went for her Biometrics last week and they wanted proof of her new name since it was on the Bio appointment letter. So we went home and got our marriage certificate and everything was A-OK

I went for biometrics Nov 16th and when i presented my passport in maiden name i had to supply the marriage certificate - the guy doing the fingerprints definately wasnt going to accept the passport on its own! I would suggest taking the marriage certificate DEFINATELY - i took my social security card as well....in fact i think i took everything ! i was working on the idea that it would be better to have it all with me rather than not just in case they asked for it.
