Does the I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member need to be notarized? Because the USCIS send us a Request for Initial Evidence, It’s say that

(The joint sponsor indicates on Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, that a qualifying household member’s income will be used for the joint sponsor’s income to meet 125% of the poverty line. The joint sponsor failed to submit one or more forms I-864A, for household members whose income is being used to meet the poverty line.)

SORRY NOT I-964A its I-864A i mean. I just dont know how to edith the title.

Thank You For Your Time Reading.

Thanks for reply so quick...the USCIS website for form downloads siads that the form is suposed to be notarized, but in theres no place in the form directions that saids its suposed to be notarized??? this is a little confusing to me..why would they say that on the website download but not in the directions of the form... the USCIS sent us a notice saying our household member sponsership papers were not received.. and we have copys of those forms ,so we know that they were sent...We are thinking maybe we made an error of not getting those forms notarized.........if you or someone can help it would be appreciated.

I have heard of MANY times of people sending in forms, then getting RFE's from USCIS saying the forms were not sent! Maddening! They lose the forms and we have to suffer for it. Anyway, notarize the sponsorship forms (make copies for yourself) and re-send them, you should be fine after that.

It is not uncommon for information to be contained on the USCIS site and not on the actual instructions. You can also obtain forms and information on immigration laws, regulations and procedures by telephoning our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 or visiting our internet website at www.uscis.gov. They frequently update their forms and perhaps the neglected to update the site as it was previously a requirement to have the form notarized.

Also, we didn't have our I-864 notarized and didn't have any trouble obtaining AOS approval.

Hey wait a minute, I just realized that in other places it was discussed that the I-134 needs to be notarized but not the I-864! And we didn't get ours notarized either! :o

Are you sure that your sponsor/co-sponsor fulfill the 125% poverty line income requirements? Maybe that's what they are complaining about. Otherwise, just resend what you sent before, they could have lost it.

it siad in the website that I-864A need to be notarize, cause we sent our I-864, but we had a problem with the I-864A and it wasn't notarized. The uscis saying that The joint sponsor failed to submit one or more forms I-864A, for household members whose income is being used to meet the poverty line.).And I know my co-sponsor is meet the poverty line. This things makes really stress...now I check the paper again and we will send it next week and its already notarized.:unsure:

It was my understanding that the main sponsor (spouse) affidavit does not need to be notorized, but when using a cosponsor they need to complete a separate affidavit of their own and that one would have to be notarized...we didn't use a cosponsor, and my husband's affidavit was not notarized, I hope that's right  . Maybe someone else that used a cosponsor can share their experience and results

Saludos,

Caro
