Hello again,

My fiancee and I are currently in the process of completing the I-129F package. The only thing I'm not sure about is, if we have enough proof for having met / an ongoing relationship. Here's what we have:

- We met in March 2007, and I will attach all airline boarding pass stubs of that journey plus the hotel confirmation,

- I visited her in the US in June / September / October, and will attach all boarding pass stubs too,

- I'm currently in the US (Thanksgiving visit), and will attach the boarding pass stubs for my flight from Germany to the US, plus, I provide them with my I-94W information on the I-129F,

- I will copy the passport pages with my entry stamps,

- We will also attach the purchase receipt for the engagement ring,

- We will attach the itinerary for her upcoming trip to Germany for Christmas,

- I will attach 2 pictures of the two of us, because we don't have more pictures as of now.

I'm just not sure if the two pictures of us are sufficient. I could also attach hardcopies of e-mails, but as far as I understand the process, we don't have to prove the ongoing relationship at this stage; just proof for having met.

Would you think this is sufficient ?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

we submitted the exact same things with our petition and had no problems whatsoever! I wouldn't worry about having 2 pics only because you have all those copies of the boarding passes (I also flew to the US quite a few times before we sent the petition) and proof that she will come and visit you for Christmas.

Just make sure that later on, when you have your interview in Frankfurt, you bring a couple more pics.

Good luck to you on your journey!

I would send them copies of everything. They can loose things and ask for things that you had sent in. If they want the actual bording passes ect they will ask for it. Copies worked for me.

Actually I think you DO need to prove both that you've met AND that you're in an ongoing relationship. I'd have thought that the evidence you lists adequately fulfils both requirements. I'd probably send hard copies of the emails as well - just send a selection over a period of time. With everything else you have there's quite a range of evidence to suggest you're in an ongoing relationship... and your numerous visits prove the having met part.

You have sufficient evidence to prove both that you have met and you maintain an ongoing relationship. Just make sure to keep the originals of all documents for your visa interview and to make one or two copies of the entire packet you send them for reference.

Good luck!

I think your two pictures are sufficient. Technically, one picture is sufficient. The requirement is to show that you have met. One picture that shows the two of you together is evidence that you two have met. The other documentation you have with the boarding passes and the stamps on your passport may help you show a continuing relationship, but think about it...just because you have proof that you traveled does not mean you have proof that you two spent time together. My I-129F was submitted in early July. Just two days ago, I got my notice of approval. They did not ask for any RFEs like some other people did. With my submission, I sent the following:

-My 405 pages (condensed) of instant message chats with her from when we first met online in January 2007 to when we met in person in May 2007;

-My travel documentation (boarding pass, hotel receipts, etc.) to show I was in Vietnam;

-400+ photographs on CD ROM of me and her for the two weeks that we spent together in Vietnam;

-12 affidavits from friends and family who had to hear me talk about her.

I think I overdid it with the evidence that I submitted, but I am a lawyer and when it comes to evidence, I know that more evidence is better than less evidence. And the quality of evidence is also very important. It's great that you traveled several times, but none of those travels matter if you cannot prove that the travels were to see your fiance. So I would suggest taking quite a few more pictures. Also keep in mind why they want this evidence. The system is designed to weed out those individuals who don't really want to get married. It's not a perfect system, but that's the purpose of it. So you much provide evidence that your intentions are genuine and sincere.

Look at my evidence:

-405 pages of instant message chats (My fiance and I met online by happenstance. I knew that any government official looking at this would question our intentions. So I provided most of our chats for a 5 month period. In reading these chats, you can see the progression of how we came to fall for each other.

-My travel documentation and photographs (Evidence that we have met. How can you deny 400+ photographs of her and I together with time/date stamps showing 2 weeks spent together?)

-12 affidavits from family and friends (How much more evidence do they want if I provide affidavits from family members, lifelong friends, and co-workers who had to hear me talk/brag about how wonderful my fiance is?!!?!)

my thoughts to you and anyone else involved in this process...keep in mind the reason why the government wants you to provide these things and you should be OK. Look at your evidence from a skeptical standpoint and if you can convince a skeptic, then you can convince the government. Good luck to you and to everyone else...

No, ongoing relationship evidence is not required but is optional with the initial petition. Ongoing relationship evidence will be requested at the interview stage.

no you are incorrect. here is the instruction from the I-129F form,

You may file this form if:

You and your fiancé(e) intend to marry within 90 days of

your fiancé(e) entering the United States, and are both free

to marry, and have met in person within two years before

your filing of this petition unless:

it says have MET in last 2 years,. doesnt say anything about on-going relationship. that is proven at the interview stage.

I didn't send that much, and just a few pictures.

I sent photocopies of my residency card from France, ticket stubs of my 1 vist to Egypt, copies of passport stamps and a few pictures of us. That's it. I completely forgot to send proof of him ever living in France, but that didn't seem to cause any problems. I never got any RFE's...

At the interview my fiance was asked when was the last time I saw him, and he responded: Egypt. The lady was suprised and didn't even know I had made a trip to Egypt! My fiance pointed to the picture she had of us in Egypt and said "Yes, right there, and here are a few more"...So they didn't even care about that part apparently, just that we had actually met at one point.
