My fiance has his interview on Tuesday. We've been looking at other embassy's questions, but I was wondering if anyone has gone through Damascus and know any of the questions they asked for a K-1 visa. Any other advice relating to the interview? thanks!

I haven't seen any of our ME/NA folks with a case through Damascus recently -- the last one was Esperando back in May of '06. Have you tried doing a member search ? There may be some around who don't post in ME/NA.

But consulates usually ask the same types of questions. Do a search under topics for "K-1 Interview Questions" and you will get a great idea of what you might expect.

Wishing you the best of luck on Tuesday -- let us know how it goes !

Whoops I hit "reply" too soon -- I meant to add some general advice:

You can dress neat but casual -- a suit and tie is not necessary.

Take ALL your evidence -- photos, documents, copies, etc. -- and don't be too shy to make SURE the interviewer sees it. For instance, if the question is "Did your fiance meet your parents?" open to photos of everyone together and show them while you answer.

Try to stay calm and friendly and polite -- don't be afraid to smile.

If you don't know the answer to something, be honest and say "I'm sorry but I don't know."

Get there early and be prepared to spend all day -- don't forget to eat something before you go.

At the end of the interview, ask "Am I approved ?" and "When can I expect the visa to be issued ?"

Know what a 221g is so that neither of you panics if he gets one.

Again -- best of luck on Tuesday !

I had an interview in Damascus embassy but not for K-1 visa .

Anyway here is some of questions I was asked :

How many brothers and sisters do you have ?

What is your study?

Do you want to continue studying in The US ?

Where is your father now ?

Where is your mother now ?

Does your father married in the US ?

Do you live with roommates ?

I hope this is helpful

I know Amman was handling some Syrian visas for a while, which was part of what caused the huge back-up in Amman (in addition to regular Jordanian issues and Iraqi influx).

Dress nicely :) Business casual is always safe... answer truthfully-- and don't get angry even if they push. They will have the file and will likely ask some questions based on it--think about what other people (in general) have asked you in the past and prepare for some of those questions. Good luck!

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.
