As someone who worked in the front lines of tourism (tourist bureaus, museums, etc) for ten years, I hate to say it, but when we had rude/obnoxious visitors, 90% of them were American. Guess I caught them all on their bad days.

Can they supply lessons for british men travelling to the capitols of Europe for their stag weekends? Because in my experience that really is the most obnoxious brand of tourist I have ever encountered.

Almost as bad as those Scandinavians spending their days off in an alcohol-induced delirium in Northern Germany, or those German youths invading Dutch border towns to visit the local "coffee"-shop...

There should be some tourist behavior code for all tourists abroad. I hate obnoxious tourists regardless of nationality especially when I'm trying to be a tourist.

Permanent Green Card Holder since 2006, considering citizenship application in the future.

Hmmmmm, Canada??? A cheap, quick hop across the border for many USCs . . . more money for beer I guess and lots of Canadians willing to jump in to drink it with them. Yep, good partying in Canada . . . one trip I took up there for Stampede in Calgary, I never did actually go to Stampede . . . watched it on TV though! Spent more time having my Canadian hosts get me up for sunrise b'fasts . . . champagne at 5am and beer at midnight (those were the days . . . and long gone I might add, LOL!!).

And, not to leave out Mexico for border hopping bad behavior . . .NO, not the Mexicans . . . the partying USCs . . . lots of bars just over the border in Mexico. So the Mexicans do have to put up with partying college students (and others) . . . and so it goes!!!

I think it's just tourists in general and not just Americans. I've been ashamed when I've seen Irish acting stupid abroad.

A lot of people act different away from home...the air goes to their brain and turns them crazy!!
