Initial EAD Without Biometrics?

I have been talking to a relative of a friend and he has told me that his Brazilian wife did not get called for a Biometrics Appointment prior to being issued her first EAD. She arrived on a K1 visa and went through the same process as we did, except from a different country. He said that she didnt need to do it as it was all done at the embassy in Brazil. Understanding that the Biometrics conducted at the Embassies are almost identical to the ones carried out once in the USA, has anyone else ever come across this sort of thing before, is it commonplace or prehaps an oversight by USCIS?

Never heard of anyone getting a 1 year EAD without having their biometrics done.... the EAD card has a finger print embedded in it so I am not sure how they could have got a EAD without having biometrics done first...

The only EAD that I can think of where no biometrics are needed is a temp EAD that used to be issued by local offices but they were discontinued back in Sept 2006. The only other EAD is the stamp that somepeople get at POE which is valid for 90 days.

I agree. Remembering my interview, they only took my index finger fingerprints, but at the ASC appointments they print all 10 fingers and also use a different method (like they roll your finger from side to side vs. the plain fingerprint at the embassy or the airport at POE)

At my interview they took all 10 as well as the digital photo. I thought it sounded strange that an EAD would be issued without biometrics.
