people who get DUI's are noobs
Why? Anyone can get caught.

Nope. Not those that don't D&D. :)

Aw man... now they're going after those who play RPGs too? ;)

BC Premier Gordon Campbell seems to have no problem getting into the USA. And he was busted for DUI in Hawaii a few years back.

To be fair, isn't President Bush allowed into Canada too? I seem to recall that he given a DUI/DWI earlier in his life too. Of course, seeing as that occurred many years ago, that might satisfy the "more than five years" rule as well. Regardless, there seems to be different rules for politicians and the "average citizen," whether or not they are American or Canadian.

the same thing happened to a friend of mine but I wasn't sure how often it happened

Depends on the officer. Sometimes they'll look you up, sometimes they won't.

As an aside... Canada and the US have had a reciprocal information sharing agreement for years. Some offences are waiverable, some are not. You're best not to lie if you've had a conviction (if asked) because they do have the means of finding out.
