Yes. It only took one day to get my residency stamp. (Even though the office was crowded like craaaaaaaazy... my husband was jumping in front of people & shoving my passport through the window. Maybe they are organized internally, but it's not very organized from an outsider's perspective. There was no organization, no system, no lines; it was chaos.)

Yes. It only took my husband one day to get his passport renewed. He tipped the officer extra and he got it back later in the afternoon.

I know exactly what you mean. I know you are in the same boat as we are. I am not arguing, I promise. ;)

My point, and the reason for my joke  was this: travelling is the hard part. What difference does it make if you have your passport or not? You can't travel. Maybe to Cyprus, KSA, Kuwait, or travel with the army.

You are saying: **The visa office is a different system.** I know this. But, when the embassy is depending on important papers (MC, etc.) from different ministries within Egypt, and everyone takes their sweet time (for example, by letting people jump in line LIKE MY HUSBAND DID or when people who TIP & PAY can get their papers/passport sooner than the ones who came before them!! Or when you have to speak to the #1 officer and he takes personal responsibility for getting your paper finished, and then goes out of the country... it happens all the time! even inside the embassy, people go on vacation & leave cases sitting on their desks. Why would anyone else touch their work? They are busy enough as it is!) then, they are not being very efficient. Especially when there are millions of people who are applying for the same thing.

I really don't know where the ball got dropped with Tamara's Movement Certificate. It's so hard to tell what is going on. But, I know it shouldn't have taken this long..... especially if the office is so "organized" . And, each and every person shouldn't have to speak with the head officer in order to get something done. It should flow smoother than that; but it didn't. So, that's why my opinion is: the delays are unnecessary & obtaining the passport in one day is useless because you can't travel that fast anyway!

Happy Anniversary , you guys!!! So glad that you are spending it together! Lucky ducks.

Oh really? You are funny.

I am not trying to be confrontational, I swear. I just feel like if one department or ministry in Egypt is slow or confused, then the WHOLE visa process suffers. You can't say that the Immigration & Passport office is organized (because they can process a passport in a day), when your MC proves that it's not. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

And all the while, the embassy can't move forward until it is done! But, guess what?? It doesn't matter how slow they are. Even after they have the MC in hand, the embassy will be just as slow & inefficient as the Egyptian offices! Because the whole system is broken. Not just one wheel.

So, bottom line, Tam: I don't know where to place the blame for this problem. (I don't believe it's Adam's fault, though) I don't even know what to say to help you out. .... refile maybe? People have filed more than once for a MC... for example, if the embassy requests another one because the first one is outdated. Try that, maybe.

You are in a tough situation. Who knows if you refile or make a 2nd request if the system will jam up even more...... but if you don't try to file or find a solution, you will just be waiting around for them to magically fix everything.

Good luck in whatever you choose. Would it help if I went down to the Cairo office and stomped & waved around my little blue passport??? heheheeeeeee :):lol::lol:

They would probably wish me a nice day & then take Mina into custody!! heheeeee

Monnik, i didn't say that you are arguing as i understand your feeling about being stuck here in Cairo with the frustrating routine .....

i'm trying to clarify some facts by telling the truth ( i'm not stretching it for someone to feel good about it ) .... so let me start with

- once again let me say it's not Cairo's fault why people are stuck without a Visa .

- going to number #1 officer is ONLY when something goes wrong NOT every time you obtain something from the immigration office .. and i suggested that to Adam coz it took him so long to get the MC and it sounded like something was wrong .

- the immigration and passport department is considered ( National Security ) matter here in Egypt ... that's why the guy who renewed your husband passport was ( Home Land Security Officer ) do you know what that means Monnik ? it means you can NOT TIP them ... did you really see him doing that ?

_ please Monnik don't get me wrong but anyway ( people can't leave the country , or the embassy taking a vacation , or tipping people to get your stuff sooner (not in the immigration office ) , or............. etc ) is not the case here coz the case here is helping someone to get a MC .

Doodle, while i hate to say it BUT you almost had it when you asked your question .

Tam, plz don't misunderstand my intention ... but it was difficult to believe the stories about why he is having delay getting his MC (once because it depends on the person name , once because it depends on the embassy itself , once because the director officer was off for 2 weeks )

i just wanted to help Tam , wish he gets it today , Good Luck

then Wael, why would it take another guy on here 4 weeks to get his MC paper ??? obviously someone else had to wait more than the standard 15 days that the website says... Adam is not the only guy waiting...

2nd thing we was told that its done and being sent to the Cairo office ... and Cairo mail is slow... so I assume sometime this week he should be getting it

I have to disagree. I had an appt with my congressman yesterday and the woman who handles immigration stated that the embassy in Cairo is very very understaffed. She didn't strike me as the type to candycoat something, i.e. tell me that they're understaffed as opposed to stating that there's something wrong with my case, so I have no reason not to believe her.

Again I disagree. My husband most definitely tipped them to get his passport in one day. Also when I was there in December I had to get a stamp on my passport in addition to the stamp that I received in the airport so that we could get married. I went with my husband's friend since my husband was off getting his id (this was such a romantic wedding what with all the running around and such  ) and his friend had to also tip them to get the stamp done quickly so that we could get out of there and make it back to the ministry of justice before they closed for Eid. I saw the money pass hands. Had he not tipped them to move us up in front of the line we would not have been able to get married because the ministry of justice, which we also had to bribe, would have been closed.

Doodle, while i hate to say it BUT you almost had it when you asked your question .

I think it was pretty obvious what you were getting at, but I think the more tactful approach would have been to state this along with any other doubts you may have obtained from speaking to Adam via a pm to Tamara instead of putting it on here. I myself would be ticked off and embarassed were it me.

Anyone claiming to know the ins and outs of everything that happens with the Egyptian bureaucracy is ludicrous. These things have no real rhyme or reason as I saw firsthand when I was there. And Wael just because Adam did not take you up on your offer for help getting the movement certificate does not mean that he has some nefarious motive. Maybe he just thought you did not know what you were talking about and or wanted to take a different course of action. You seem to be overly-concerned with Tamara's marriage and you may want to concentrate on your own. I find your whole post tacky.

Tam i'm so sorry if anything i have said sounded offensive to you in anyway , again that was not my intention ... and the best luck to you and Adam .

for the people who have posted some rude comments to my posts and some personal attacks to me in person , i would say i have used to this kind of agressive behavior here on MENA forum and that's why i haven't been here lately .

the thing is i just can't find myself keep going on and on with some useless woman , uneducated , and most likely they don't even know what they are talking about .. so i will leave it like that and i'm not gonna be on defense with some people who their only intention is to come to MENA forum to see their daily soap-opera .. sorry i'm not going to be a part of that !

most of you MENA women come here to see other people in pain and having problems with no intention to help in anyway .. and i can imagine you when someone try to help .. that must be so BAD , right !

so you are right from now on i have to concentrate on my own .....

NOW i have an anniversary here to start celebrating :dance:

wish you all be happy

Well, don't go down in flames like some misunderstood genius. Try making a living from your dreams, but please be sure you always decide in favour of what you love over what merely makes you popular.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Listen, buddy, you are the one coming here on a public forum insinuating that someone's husband is cooling his heels in terms of doing what it takes to get his visa so who is the agressive one? I'm only pointing out that this could have been done in a pm. How would you like it if someone stated something here about your marriage?

the thing is i just can't find myself keep going on and on with some useless woman , uneducated , and most likely they don't even know what they are talking about ..

Far from useless, just ask my kids and my boss, have my bachelors in business admin AND my cpa, and I know exactly what I'm talking about. I actually agree with you that something seems out of whack with the whole movement certificate BUT it doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that your statement on here was rude and insensitive.

 Right Wael but instead you are just going the passive- aggressive route with your above diatribe? OK Wael you even confirmed that you were implying something sinister about Adam's motives and I find that rude and un-called for. Now as for your other comments, I just consider the source. I doubt anyone will cry over their Wheaties if you leave. Too, you sure are pretty judgmental for someone claiming to be above the fray.
