Husband to be deployed overseas

Hello Everybody.

I am glad to have found this site. I am confused on what to do. We filed our I-751 this July 2007 and still waiting for the result. My husband is a Reservist and will deployed overseas very soon (December). This is something I really did not expect to happen. I know USCIS is now conducting interview for I-751 and just in case they want us to come for an interview, can I call them to have our case put on hold? I don't drive and this makes it more difficult.

Also, a friend of mine told me that I can inquire USCIS if they can expedite my case and/or file for citizenship following my husband's deployment. Is this true? If so, who do I need to contact? Please, any idea is greatly appreciated.

Thank you all in advance.

Walley

To request a hold on the case or expedited processing, I'd suggest you make an InfoPass appointment with your local office and bring a copy of his deployment orders. USCIS can fill you in on what your options are.

Thanks for your reply js. I called USCIS and they told me that if I get lucky I/we don't have to come for an interview. Should they require an interview, a copy of his orders and power of attorney will be needed. USCIS clarified it to me that my husband's deployment to Afganistan has no bearing on my I-751 whatsoever, though I recall this is not what the officer told us during our I-485 interview. Well, at least we do not have to change anything, so much pressures going on at the moment.

Once again, thanks :)

Expedited citizenship is possible for foreign-born that will be stationed overseas.
