k2 following to join ... the child's signature

hello all

when filling out the paperwork for children following to join (k2 visa). (my wife is here in the states). can the parent sign for the minor child?? are there different signature requirements for different ages of children?

for example - my wife's daughter is 13. a friend of mine has a wife who's daughter is 2.

any advice out there?
