I'm going to start working really soon next week at a job that pays about 24,000 a year. My last two jobs, I was too busy in school so I never worked full time and made under 17,000. So my question is, is 1 year enough to prove that you can take care of your partner, along with life insurance, and the cash you save in the bank? As I understand, when the partner goes for the interview, he/she will be ask to hand over this proof. Tell me more in details please. This worries me the most.

My boyfriend is from China. I hope China will be less strict then the Philippines.

Thank you for your time reading my post. :) Hehe.

You meet the poverty level requirements. I don't know how strict the embassy in China is but Manila isn't all that difficult as long as you have your documents in order. Good luck.

here is a site that deals with China. Between this site and Candle you should get your questions answered. In a past post you were supporting your mother? How are you handling this? As this will come up when you need to count dependants. If you can show pay stubs tp prove you make over 24,000 you should be in good shape. Providing you can get a letter from your employer assuring you will have a steady employment in the future. Line 22or maybe 37 of your 1040 is what is counted as the figure you need .One more thing China is counted as a high fraud country. Not one of the easiest countries to get a visa. If your income level is not substainable then you have a problem and would need a co-sponser. We would welcome your questions at candle . feel free to drop in .

There has been "rare" occasions where the CO at the interview allowed a visa without the petitioner meeting the income requirement. The case I saw the beneficiary was a doctor in the Philippines tho.

Odds are you will be refused unless your fiance meets the poverty guidelines or he gets a co sponsor.

Normally they don't deny you outright but put you on AR until your fiance gets a co sponsor.

Most recent year over the Minimum Poverty Guidelines is OK.
