Medical (I-693) for the AOS interview?

My husband finally got te letter stating that he's been scheduled for his AOS interview (to take place May 23rd). I feel that I'm as well prepared as I can be, but the letter threw me for a bit of a loop when it says to bring "medical examination form I-693 in a sealed envelope".

We already submitted one medical exam when we filed the initial AOS package (he's adjusting from an F-1, if that makes a difference). Does that mean we have to shell out the money to get another medical exam? The doctor that did his exam also submitted the I-693 supplement form, as well, so we're not missing that, either.

I'm hoping that this is just a form letter sent to everyone and it doesn't mean we have to pay for another exam!

Usually they ask to bring medical examination form I-693 in a sealed envelope, unless already submitted. Does your letter say "unless already submitted"? Then you don't have to worry about it. If it doesn't say that, then I'm not sure what to tell you... get another medical just in case.

I think they are saying that another medical is needed, the one at the embassy location is only good for one year.

It sounds like you have already submitted the medical info, so you would not be required to submit another. I think the letters are pretty standard and so it should say to bring medical examination form I-693 in a sealed envelope, unless already submitted

ditto. the medical is good for more than a year.

Ours does not say "unless already submitted." The letter is just a xerox copy of what I assumed they sent everyone. Apparently mine's different, somehow. (This letter is coming from the Chicago office, if that makes a difference.)

The medical is not over a year old; it was done in July, and was done by an American doctor. Because my husband already was residing in the US when we filed, we've never had to deal with a consulate.

Your medical should be fine once it was carried out by an approved civil surgeon here in the U.S. You can find a list of them HERE to make sure the Doc you used is on their list.

I've never heard of them sending a xerox copy of the interview letter, I thought you needed the original for the interview? Does anyone know anything about this?

Well, not necessarily a xerox but it was obviously printed on a laser printer. In other words, it isn't printed on the coloured paper used for the NOAs and such. (I can probably scan it and remove identifying details if it would help.)

The doctor is on the approved list, so that's not an issue either.
