Can K-3 be changed to CR-1?

My wife came to the US on a K-3 visa because of a miscommunication between us when our I130 and I129 were approved on the same day. She went to the K-3 interview instead of the CR-1 interview. Is it possible to get her K-3 changed to a CR-1? This would help us financially since the fee for the AOS is now over $1000. Thank you in advance for your answers.

I am starting to worry now. I am in the middle of NVC processing(IV bill paid, preparing I864 form). My I129F was approved two days ago. Can USCIS recall my I130 from NVC? I want to go with I130. What should I do now? Please advice

i only filed my I130 for my husband so im not sure... on your IVbill it says what process you are doing currently... mine said Visa type CR1

Sorry... your wife has already got the K3 Visa... cant change it and she is with you. Start saving 1000$. See if you can get financial aid for AOS from USCIS.

At this point the fee to file and I-824 to get your I-130 moving again, plus the CR1 visa fee plus the travel expense back to the country of origin would far exceed the AOS costs and take 8 or 9 months to boot.

Just follow thru with the K-3.

Any thing else would cost you a lot of money and you will have to send your spouse back again.

Don't worry.

If your I-130 is in NVC, it will continue to process.

If both the I-130 and the K3 get to your embassy, just have them cancel the K3 and interview for the I-130.

Usually they automatically do this.

A CR-1 visa is for a married couple with the beneficiary still living in another country. Either way, the airline ticket back would be more than the $1010 for the AOS.
