My husband (the beneficiary) is having an issue with this translation of the BC as well. He contacted his Consulate (Chile) in Toronto and was told they don't do translations. So, he is down to finding an attorney (since those are the notaries) who can translate from Spanish as well. It majorly sucks.

Ok guys-girls...here is my experience with the consulate of original country, i.e. the "by accident" i was talking about in my posted answer to trailmix: i initially went to the consulate to have another new BC, and in the same time i asked the consul: I need it in English as well, do you do it in English also, he said yes, come and we'll do it. He named a no. Law: as per law no. X, i confirm this translation is accurate, etc...then later on i checked on embassies and consulates websites of my contry and they say they do Notarized activities, etc...So, reading you on here, i believe he was wery nice and doing me a favor or what?...I'm not a specialist in legal paperwork ...

But, as I said: otherwise, check on the Board of translators, they all know exactly how to do them...My french PC had to be translated and there is where i went...with: the translation is in itself one seal, and the oath notarized, a second one...that's all it takes and they accepted it at NVC. You just have to insist and precise the translator you need that second seal...They said 2 working days, but i insisted i needed the same day...and they did it with a smile...it was an office of translators in downtown...Good luck!

I forgott to say that a consulate HAS to help the citizens of the country they represent.it's their duty and that's why they exist as well.....so it's strange they couldn't help you on this..or refere you the an appropriate resource....This was my case, but traditionnaly, an office of translators is the place...I could translate it myself, well, sort of but i prefered to have the most official legal paper as possible...for security matters they request and having no more problems...HOpe it helps!

Hello, Pari...

Try AllLanguages on Sherbourne (at Yonge) in downtown Toronto. As long as they are certified translators and the make an oath that they've translated it to the best of their ability, it usually flies. (I've used them for Canadian Immigration processes and it was sufficient).

If you want to be absolutely sure, call Montreal and ask them what their standard is.

Good luck!
