I need some help! SO finally got the packet and had the medical. My problem now is the vaccination worksheet that he got from the doctor. SO said he was very adamant with the doctor about receiving ALL vaccinations, but she refused. She gave him two (2) shots consisting of the MMR, Polio and some DT/DTP/DTaP? On the worksheet he has six (6) vaccinations checked as "not age appropriate" and "not routinely available" and then the influenza marked "not fall or flu season". At the bottom of the worksheet she checked the box for results as "vaccine history incomplete" and "applicant may be eligible for blanket waiver(s) because vaccination(s) not medically appropriate (as indicated above)".

They took blood for the HIV/AIDS and they did x-rays for TB. I am really confused?? I just don't understand the part about the vaccinations. My understanding was all these were required, if not now, definitely for the Adjustment of Status?

Can someone please shed some light on this for me so I don't totally go out of my mind?

Carrie,

Abdou had two shots when he had his medical in Morocco. Since we didn't know he would need a copy when we did our AOS paperwork he elected to just have them again here. I know he had the two shots mentioned and some others he didn't need as he was 32 at the time. They tried to give him the shot for chicken pox but he told them he had had it and they didn't have him take it. I was with him this time when he had to go to the physician here. They do go by their age as to what vacinnations they now require. It sounds ok to me. The gave Simo the shots appropriate for his age. I'm so happy he received his packet and now has his medical out of the way. Just 10 more days to go until his interview!!!!!! Don't lose your mind now lol.

Good Luck :dance::dance:

He got the Diphtheria and Tetanus (part of the DT/DTP/DTaP) and the MMR, but they won't give him the one for Chickenpox and marked it as not routinely avaiable.

Well, in any case, he's going to need to get the supplement from a civil surgeon over here. Our civil surgeon just asked if Wadi had chicken pox as a kid and checked him off. I've heard some need either childhood medical records or a blood test to verify. If he hasn't had them, you'll be able to get a varicella vaccine easily here and then the civil surgeon can record it for you on the supplemental.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You did good to remember to get the worksheet!

Thanks, I'm trying not to worry. I just don't want some simple thing as a shot to delay anything. I did ask him last night if he had chickenpox (tons red bumps that itch like crazy) lol. He thinks he has, so I guess we will deal with that later when the time comes. What was worrying me was the requirements for the Influenza type B and Hepatitis B, which they did not give him.

He got the vaccination worksheet from the doctor. I told him he was not to leave the doctor without some record of his vaccinations, so she gave him DS-3025.

At the top it says:

US Department of State

Vaccination Documentation Worksheet

For use with DS-2053 To be completed by panel physician only

I didn't get the varicella shot in either, as it's not available in Ireland. It simply meant I had to get it here for AOS. I also never got the flu shot or hepatitis shot for any of our visa process. Good job telling him to get a copy of the worksheet

Carrie,

The civil surgeon here (Baltimore) gave Rafie the varicella vaccination. She said in order for her to sign off, he would either need some medical record proof or he could just have the vaccination. Each civil surgeon seems to have a different method.

Once Simo is here, it is definitely worth calling around to the different civil surgeons when you are having the I-693 supplement completed. The prices vary, some will only fill it out will a full physical, some require blood titres, some will fill it out with just the paper, some will take his word about the chicken pox, etc.

Rafie paid $25 for the form to be filled out and about $90 for the chicken pox vaccination. The SAME medical center but different location had a different policy and would have required a blood test.

The only immunizations that are routinely indicated for *adults* are the DT, MMR, and varicella. The vast majority of people who are in their 20s or over have already had chicken pox. Some people just take the person's word for it, sometimes they require a blood test to prove someone's immune.

Hep B is a good idea but is only a requirement for kids at the moment.

H Influenza B is only necessary for little kids, adults don't get sick enough from it to need the vaccination.

Majid had no records of his childhood vaccinations and his vaccination worksheet looked just like your fiance's, and when we went to the civil surgeon for our AOS vaccination supplement the civil surgeon didn't require him to get any more shots.

You should be fine!
