Here’s our journey so far.

We sent the I129f petition off to Nebraska on 7th Feb 2007, this was received and we got NOA1 on 13th Feb 2007. At the end of Feb I found out I had breast cancer, it was treatable but would take 10 months of treatment with chemotherapy, operation and radiotherapy. I start the final part of my treatment (radiotherapy on Nov 27th, finishing on 24th Dec 2007) after that I am classed as in remission. My cancer was grade 1, the lowest form, the prognosis is very good and my medical team are all happy for me to move to the States in March/April 2008, they will give me all the records and support I need for my move. My fiance has medical insurance through his work and they will cover me once we get married although they wont insure me for 18 months for cancer, that is fair enough, if I have a relapse then I will cross that bridge when and if I need to.

We got NOA2 on 16th May and I received packet 3 on 21st June. I sent packet 3 back on 25th July along with a cover letter explaining my circumstances and requesting an extension date and interview after mid-Dec 2007.

I had my medical on 11th September. The doctor was very polite and understanding, she asked for further details and these were sent via fax, as far as I know I passed the medical. I haven’t heard any more about the medical, I assume they would contact me if there were any problems. The lady doctor was very kind and sympathetic.

So it got to mid October and I hadn’t heard anything about my interview, I phoned the extortion line and was told they hadn’t received my checklist, I insisted this was sent with the original package but agreed to send a copy, this was received on October 23rd according to Royal Mail Recorded next day delivery.

Now its just waiting, my fiance keeps phoning DHS and the last time he phoned on Tuesday 20th November they told him the application was in AR, this came right out the blue. I thought they only put applications on AR after the interview, if at all from London.

I intend to move March/April 2008 but really want the visa in my passport, then I can start to plan everything. I’m going to give them until the end of November then I will phone the extortion line again and get a reference number to email the embassy with. I want an interview date, I know there have been complications , but I’m getting impatient now, I want to start planning my future ahead of all this ####### I have been through.

Ok rant over, but if anyone has any advise on what to put in an email to request they give me an interview date or how long this AR is likely to be, it will be much appreciated.

Maggie

I'd have your fiance get his senator or congressman involved.
