Is packet 3 the letter from the embassy with all the information in? The one asking you to send in the DS-230, DS-156, etc.? Because I sent mine recorded delivery about two weeks ago and called the embassy a couple of days ago. The woman on the phone had no idea what I was talking about, but checked her computer and said she had nothing on file. Does this mean they didn't receive my forms, or they just don't add me to the computer until I have an interview date? I haven't sent in my checklist yet. She was really unhelpful, as is everyone involved in this process at every level, and couldn't even confirm that I'd sent it to the right address.

Try calling the Department of State and see if they can help you.

You just need to give them your LND case number and they may ask for some personal details such as date of birth to confirm identity. I got my interview date from them one week after I sent in my Packet 3.

But I thought they wouldn't issue you an interview date until you sent them the checklist? Can someone tell me what exactly packet 3 is? I thought it was just the envelope with my LDN number and the information sheets. I sent them back a bunch of forms - no checklist yet because I haven't got my police certificate and my medical is still pending.

The envelope that you got was the packet 3  , however, the term 'packet 3' is used on VJ, but the embassy call it an 'instruction package' or something similar. They probably won't know what you are talking about if you ask them if they got your packet 3.

Also, when did you apply for your police cert? The reason I ask is that you won't hear anything from the embassy until you send in your checklist. They don't schedule your interview until they get it. So if your expecting your cert soon, you should just go ahead and send off the checklist to keep things moving.

And finally

i nearly posted the forms without the checklist...until i re read the instructions!! then i included the checklist and pages 1 - 4 of the instructions, i also wrote a cover letter saying that i couldnt arrange a medical date until i got an interview date, hopefully they will give me an interview date soon so i can contact the doctors, i phoned the doctors last week, they were helpful and told me that they are not too busy at the moment and as long as i gave them a few days notice of my interview date they would do their best to accommodate me

i am also waiting for some paperwork from my OH which should be here by wednesday...DHL permitting...(i also told the embassy this) as soon as i get this i will call the embassy to ask how they are doing with my interview date...

would the embassy issue a date prior to getting the medical..? or have i gone about this all wrong?

thank god for technology!
