I was just checking online and this is what the new update says >>>>

Advisory on Processing Times

USCIS has received a significant increase in the number of applications filed; nearly double the number received in the same period last year. The agency is working to improve processes and focus increased resources, including hiring approximately 1,500 new employees, to address this workload.

As a result, average processing times for certain applications may grow longer. Naturalization applications filed after June 1, 2007 may take approximately 16-18 months to process.

I just don't understand why it's going to take 16-18 months, since the applications go through data processing only at service centers, and are sent to local offices, which take 6-7 months tops to schedule an interview!!! I don't think that the forecasting is correct, just like they didn't forecast correctly for the application surge.

Stupid question, but is a K1 visa application considered naturalization?

Thanks!

No. It is the first step on a long road.

The order goes like this:

I-129f petition (filed by USC)

K-1 visa interview (completed by beneficiary)

marriage

application for Conditional Residency status (2 year green card, also know as AOS or Adjustment of Status)

application for Removal of Conditions (resulting in a 10 year green card)

Application to Naturalize (resulting in citizenship)

i just have that silly hope that is just for naturalization because i don't care how long the naturalization take as long as i m already with my sweety and that we would be able to start our life and family together.

I was curious what the USCIS was doing and the lack of CR1/IR1 processing, so I made a spreadsheet with as much history as I could find. You can find a link to the sheet in my blog (link in signature). It's actually interesting to see where the various Service Centers are putting their resources and tracking their progress.

Please let me know if you see any errors or have additional information to add.

Thanks!

I'm not getting any replies in the daily thread so I'll post it here in hopes someone knows what this means.

I went to my USCIS bookmark where I log in and they changed the site today. This is what pops up first before anyone can log in. It doesn't make me happy but school wrapping up does! So does this mean I have a 16-18 month wait instead of the 6 month wait which I have nearly reached now? Some people who turned in both their applications nearly the same day as mine have got their NOA2's already but I am either getting anxious or feeling I am being passed up or pushed back. Why would they change the site today to put this message up first before anyone can log in?

Advisory on Processing Times

USCIS has received a significant increase in the number of applications filed. In July and August, nearly 2.5 million applications and petitions of all types were received. This compares to 1.2 million applications and petitions received in the same time period last year. This fiscal year, we received 1.4 million applications for naturalization; nearly double the volume we received the year before. The agency is working to improve processes and focus increased resources, including hiring approximately 1,500 new employees, to address this workload.

As a result, average processing times for certain application types may grow longer. In particular, naturalization applications filed after June 1, 2007 may take approximately 16-18 months to process.

USCIS has several informational services to keep you apprised of the agency's progress. We encourage you to take advantage of information posted on our website and to create and monitor your profile in our Case Status Online system to properly track your case. You will find a link to Case Status Online in the Related Links section of this page.

We will continue to provide additional information on application processing times as it becomes available.

CSC received my mothers case in August (I130/I485) - It was transferred from NVC. It still has not been touched

:help: Can someone please tell me how long it takes for a parents I130 to get approved? :help:

This is a totally frustrating experience :angry::angry:

Welcome first of all to a great forum....you should try to fill in your timeline but to answer your question is somewhat hard for alot of us now...no one really knows but hopefully they will get back in order after the first of year. Keep in mind that there are quite a few of us here that have filed for our spouses to be here in August forward and have not received our NOA1's as of todays date. I see that your case is a little different than most of ours, but still the backlogs are there for all.

Wishing you the best and also additional patience ...

Cheers

USCIS Application and Receipting Update

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) advises customers that processing of fee payments and entry of cases into our tracking system remains behind schedule due to the tremendous increase in the number of applications filed. As a result, applicants are experiencing delays in receiving notices of receipt. USCIS is working hard to deal with the increased volume.

*

Date Received in Mailroom – USCIS will honor the actual date that an application was received in our mailroom; this date will be indicated on the receipt (in the Received Date box) when Form I-797, Notice of Action, is mailed. You can see a sample Form I-797 under "Related Links" on this page. If your case is affected by the receipt delay, arrival of your receipt may take up to 12 weeks for adjustment-of-status applications and 15 weeks for naturalization and other applications.

*

Weekly updates on Receipting – Until this situation is resolved, USCIS will provide these weekly updates on progress in issuing receipt notices to our customers. Additional information is available in Frequently Asked Questions, located under "Related Links" on this page.

*

Applications Received Prior to Posted Receipting Dates – If your application was received by USCIS before the posted dates below and you still have no receipt, please contact USCIS Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-375-5283.

We appreciate your understanding.

IMPORTANT:

Contact Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-375-5283 for:

Change of Address – If you have submitted your application and are changing your address, but have not yet received your receipt. (If you have a receipt, you can report your change of address from our website, using USCIS' Change of Address Online.)

Unusual Delay – If you have not received a receipt within the timeframe indicated below for the Service Center where you filed your application.
