hmmmmkay.

My fiance is using the removals company everyone recommended here, Excess Baggage.

Now we knew it would take a few weeks to get his stuff delivered, but the real issue is the fact that after he arranged it all they told him that the next date the ship docks is Dec 21st. That is the exact date we were *going* to fly to my hometown to see my family - for him to meet them the first time and for me to see them for the first time in a year. we were going to stay there from the 21st to the 25th.

So now im highly concerned if this ship docks on the 21st they are going to want to deliver our things on Christmas eve, when we are not supposed to be here.

am i going to get stuck without my family for christmas unless we cancel this shipment?

ughh :crying:

From looking at their website checking them out for my own move, I noticed that they will store your stuff for free for up to a month prior to shipping, maybe you could give them a call, and see if they could store it a while on the delivery end instead. I'm sure they can rearrange the delivery for you. Can't be the first time that someone can't be there to recieve their delivery

Hope it works out :thumbs::thumbs:

After they contacted us to say when it was arriving in Philadelphia, I was able to work with them on a date that was convenient for me. Give them a call!

Being a bit of a social realist, I have to say that for most people, xmas get-togethers are a minefield and the majority of relationship breakdowns take place over xmas and the new year - stimulated in many cases by the family occasions.

I remember one xmas with my ex when the big black elderly labrador plonked itself at my feet and started making the most appalling smells. Right after I had eaten my lunch too. I asked if 'blue' could be put outside for a while and I was told that if anyone was going outside it would be me.

That finished me off with xmas get - togethers so any excuse I could get to miss one - well I would grab it.

I was single for 18 years and I noticed that the fourth week in January was when the pubs were full of vulnerable women who had broken up at the new year. It was like a salmon run for grizzly bears.

half of em went back to their partners after a few weeks but it was fun while it lasted

The ship will dock on the 21st but it'll more than likely take at least a week for them to get the shipment through customs. Then they have to drive your boxes to you (amongst many others). I think you're more than likely going to get your boxes after Christmas, not before, so don't worry.
