My fiance and I have an emergency and really need your help. We were granted an interview date on Oct 26th for Nov 27th and I purchased plane tickets for the both of us on Oct 26th in anticipation of us returning together 2 days after the interview on Nov 29th. We have been dating a number of years and I have made multiple trips to Rio to see her during our courtship. We have also hired an immigration attorney during this fiance visa process and through citizenship. My friends and family in the U.S. all anticipate her arrival on Nov 30th.

On Nov 7th it was announced on the Brazil consulate site that the visa distribution had changed from us being able to pick up the visa from the consulate to a mailing. We have just learned of this news today. I have been granted special permission from my employer to come to Brazil in support of my fiance during the interview and to help her with the physically and emotionally strenuous move to the U.S. and cannot prolong the trip as I'm already away from work next Monday - Thursday and will return Friday morning.

We would very much appreciate you issuing a visa on the same day given the circumstances that the tickets were purchased before the announcement, and Ana cannot make the move alone. I cannot get any additional vacation time off to help her with the move and the change in the plane tickets would also be very, very costly in terms of price and very limited availability of seats.

Please respond to us at your earliest convenience.

Have you contacted the Consulate with this issue?

Visa Journey is just a message board for information and support for each other, I don't think any member here has any "in" and can make them give you the visa the same day. You'd need to contact the Consulate with this issue.

Best of luck to you :)

Yes, this is actually the email I wrote to the consulate. Apologies for not editing for Visajourney.com audience consumption. It doesn't hurt to ask the board as someone may have already dealt with this issue and the board is for mutual support particularly in bumps in the visa journey process. So all beneficial responses and direct emails concerning your familiarity with a similar situation and contact person would be most appreciated!

The issuance of the visa, regardless of the delivery method, is not a certainity. Many on this board have been granted a K-1 visa immediately after the consulate. And many have not.....

Suggest she goes alone to the interview, and you go after the visa in hand to help her move.

Best Wishes!!!

Creative. Why didn't I think of that? Thanks!

Why can't she move on her own? Too much stuff? Afraid to fly?

1. You could go to her interview as scheduled. Then help her pack etc. And you can take most of her belongings with you on your return to the US so its less she has to do when she follows. Even if your airline tickets are non-refundable you can cancel Ana's flight and apply the amount your paid towards a new ticket, plus change fees and difference in airfare.

2. Or as someone else suggested, let her attend the interview by herself, and visit/help her move after she has her visa in hand.

It would not be appropriate for my fiance to fly to the U.S. or move in alone. I'm too considerate and love her too much to allow that. Besides that, the change in ticket price and availability of seats would be too prohibitive. It's very important she's in the U.S. quickly as she was already supposed to be here 3 months ago but my lawyers dropped the ball. I may have found some connections through my personal rolodex. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and thanks for trying to offer some advice.

Hi. As far as I know the only consulate who is sending the visas by courier service is the one in Brasilia, while the Immigrant interviews are always made in Rio de Janeiro !!! After reading your post I've been searching for additional information but I didn't find anything about it. Inside the consulate in Rio you can use the courier service from the company called TNT, but this is (was) optional. Anyway, the immigrant visa is not issued in the same day of the interview. Usualy it takes 2 days. Please check your schedule.

I'm facing a similar situation. My interview is scheduled to the next month and my husband has a very tight schedule. He won't be able to come and pick me up with my stuff...beside the twins we are expecting !!!

Good Luck !
