Although my situation I am sure is not unique it is a little confusing.... I am self employed and was previously married.

I cut my pay this year due to the fact I dont really need all that I was paying myself...do i put last years(and previous) numbers which was significantly more, or this years (projected) number which is pretty much double the poverty level.

My ex-wife will not sign the request for tax transcripts (blah)

I do have the following is this enough.

W2 for last 3 year (copies or originals?)

Copy of last 3 years Tax returns

Copy of Paycheck Stubs (how many to provide?)

Note from employer (this is me do i even do this?)

Thanks all for the support we have gone through NVC so now its only a matter of a few short days!!!

Looks like you have everything you need. I was able to get tax transcripts by just calling and requesting them without involving my ex-wife. I am also self employed and did not write a note from employer, but the embassy in Moscow really was looking for that letter and it took some extra explaining from my fiancee about it. Better to just write the letter from yourself and you should be fine.

So with the copies of tax returns do I have what I need?

If you are self employed, you don't need an employer letter. What you have looks good but all should bear in mind that W2s and/or 1099s are part of a tax return, not something separate. A tax return without W2s, and 1099s is meaningless. Anybody can fill out a 1040 form and sign it using an numbers they choose. That doesn't make it a tax return. That's why the IRS trascripts are actually preferred. They show what the IRS actually has on record for you. People rarely scheme a year or more in advance to declare extra in come and pay more taxes in order to have supporting documentation for their affidavits of support.
