Rejection notice - not totally clear...what do they want!

Well, maybe we should suggest a minor amendment to the AOS guide. It does a good job of spelling out everything else. It would be just as easy to say 6 pics, as to say 2 pics. After reading 2 pics, it didn't occur to me that there would be any other pics needed. It seems I'm not the only one to not send enough of them.

BT

If I cause offense it is not on purpose, think about that before you take offense. If you feel offended, consider that maybe I'm not talking about you and maybe I accidentally stumbled onto a sore area and do not know. Thank you.

If you have NOT sent in 2 checks one for $930 and the other one for $80 then that is the reason for the rejection.

They expect 2 separate checks.

No they don't. As long as it totals $1010, they're fine in the majority of cases, including our own.

OP, check the signatures on all of your paperwork. If you missed a signature somewhere, they can't accept the package and the check. The missing pics shouldn't have caused the bounce, but it's two pics per application. The AOS guide says 2 pics because it is just two pictures if you're not filing for the EAD and AP; it is a little unclear, but it is in the instructions for the I-765 and I-131 that you need pictures, and the guide is trying to be as multi-purpose as possible.

What baffles me is how it seems many people don't read the instructions for each form thoroughly and rely solely on the guides.

Some people hold up under pressure better than others, and if we don't hold up well, then sometimes we make mistakes and need to ask questions. There is so much information out there, so much we need to know. So many opportunities to make mistakes. Guides are more concise and it is easy to lean on them too much. I need one page with the requiremented things on it - all of them, no running back and forth. The K1 part was easy, one set of forms basically, and it was all spelled out neatly in the guide for that. So quite naturally I assumed the AOS guide would be just as helpful.

Guess what. I did read the instructions. I just forgot to count the three 2's. So what if I relied on the guide too much. In the case of the pics, that has nothing to do with the rejections, which is what I'm talking about.

I'm still not sure what the AOS rejection is for. I scheduled an infopass appointment for wednesday at 9:15am. Maybe I am overlooking something simple and I need outside eyes to see it. People get blind like that sometimes, whether we read the instructions or not. :ot2:

Has anyone gotten that particular rejection notice before, and what were they looking for? What did they want?

i sent just one check of $1010 and i had the same problem, my AOS package came back on my mailbox a few days ago saying that the amount was incorrect, i wrote 2 checks now and i am just hoping that all will work, what a waste of time!!

I had a rejection like this.

1. THe original paperwork is fine even though it has the print on the side.

2. The reason for the rejection is not (necessarily) the check, but if one part is incorrect they cant take payment for the whole thing so they reject it all.

3. There should be a rejection notice with each form. Most of them will be the same but the one with the error will have this error specifically detailed. Read each and every sheet carefully.

4. If you disagree with the reason for the rejection (based on checking and rereading the latest instructions with the latest forms from USCIS.com) then call the customer service center and tell them - the guy i spoke with checked for me then gave me an address to resubmit and told me to include a covering letter explaining that I was bummed about their staff getting it wrong - in my case the reason for the rejection was that I had sent my Advanced Parole request to Chicago and it should have gone to Nebraska - which was of course INCORRECT!

5. Even the original check is fine, and they should also have kindly grouped all of your papers into USCIS friendly piles. If you are short of pictures just throw in more with the pack as it will be checked again anyway.

6. I included a copy of the rejection notice attached to a letter explaining why the rejection was wrong, I placed a copy of these with each form in the package.

Good luck.

We sent one check only, $1010.00.

We did not include I-131 since we are not planning to travel outside the country prior to my green card, therefore, we only included/submitted 4 pics (2 pics for the I-485 and 2 pics for the I-765).

So far things are going well with our application.

Hi I'm an October filer for my husband and I came across your post and I've read some of the replies. I sure hope you don't have to send everything again and you only need a new money order the 6 months wait its long enough already. GOOD LUCK and Clear skies!

We also received an 797C Notice of Action "Rejection Notice" but in our case it was I sent two money orders one for 1010 and another for 340.00 for EAD because I wasn't aware the EAD was included in the 1010 fee.( lesson learned.. always read "special instructions" on forms ) My notice of action stated there was an EXTRA remittance of that was not needed to process the application. It said I they did not require any action from us at the time. I am assuming then that the 1010 fee was accepted for the process to be completed. I read that you have to send two money orders is it true? Because the USCIS sent back the 340.00 money order I sent extra.

Should I expect another rejection notice saying I needed to send them separately? ( the 930.00 and the 80.00) I hope not

Any help on this will be appreciated

This makes a certain horrible sense. I am going to the infopass appointment anyway just to be sure. At this point with a 2+ week delay on getting this started, I'm hoping there is some other reason. If they don't like it, blame it on Chicago. I can't cancel the appointment anyway, browser shut down before I knew anything about confirmation number or pin number which is needed to cancel online. Hubby would worry and if there is something I don't know about and everything was sent back to us, he would not appreciate that.
