the rej. notice on the 485: "Your application package was submitted with a single remittance and one or more of the applications/petitions were unacceptable in the package for the reason(s) specified on the related Notice(s) of action(Form I-797). Please correct the flawed application(s)/petition(s), and resubmit the application package with the appropriate fees ans supporting documents to the address listed on the bottom of this notice." The rejection notice does not state that the check was wrong. I'm not sure what is means.

It does not specify that the fee was wrong, just that I need to correct something and resubmit.

The rejection notice on the 131 was self explanitory. They wouldn't reject the 485 just because the 131 had an error, would they?

rej. notice on the 765...repeated what the 485 rej. notice said - then something about the fees which just seems to agree with what I know about the filing fee - if doing 485, 131, and 765 concurrently there is not extra fee - just does not tell me what the problem is. I think for the 765 and 131, one problem is that the check was not cashed so they couldn't be paid for...or they won't file these if the 485 is rejected. Which brings me back to the 485 rej. notice.

The "submitted with a single remittance" paragraph, sounds like a cut and paste. Is it the "single remittance" (one check for aos and biometrics, $1010) that is the problem, or is it just a statment indicating they saw the check and it's all because of the 131?

No rejection notice on the 864, which seems like good news to me.

Another curiousity (to me) is the extra passport style pic. I only sent two. Now there are three.

Do I have to print out all the complete forms again, or do they accept the forms I sent the first time, with the stuff printed up the side?

Will the receipt numbers stay the same when they do accept the package, or do those change when they send approval?

It's too late to call. I will call them tomorrow, assuming someone hasn't answered here.

My guess is that since you sent one check for the whole package, they can't accept any of it unless they can accept all of it.

So the suspicion about "single remittance" is correct then? It is really that simple? That's good to know.

Now, what if I sent the forms back "as is." How about white out. Think that would mess up their printer?

If you have NOT sent in 2 checks one for $930 and the other one for $80 then that is the reason for the rejection.

They expect 2 separate checks.

Not necessarily....please see below, especially the sentence in red.

From the I-485 instructions(page 7 of 9):

What Is the Filing Fee?

The filing fee for a Form I-485 is $930.00.

An additional biometric fee of $80.00 is required when filingthis Form I-485. After you submit Form I-485, USCIS willnotify you about when and where to go for biometric services.

The fee is $930.00 only (no biometrics fee required) forapplicants under 14 years who submits Form I-485independent from other family members.

The fee for a child under the age fourteen years will be$600.00 when submitted concurrently for adjudication withthe application of a parent under sections 201(B)(A)(i), 203(a)(2)(A) and 203(d) of the INA.

You may submit one check or money order for both theapplication and biometric fees, for a total of $1010.00.

Use the following guidelines when you prepare your check ormoney order for the Form I-485 and the biometric service fee:

1. The check or money order must be drawn on a bank orother financial institution located in the United States andmust be payable in U.S. currency; and

2. Make the check or money order payable to U.S.Department of Homeland Security, unless:

A. If you live in Guam and are filing your petition there, make it payable to Treasurer of Guam.

B. If you live in the U.S. Virgin Islands and are filingyour petition there, make it payable to Commissionerof Finance of the Virgin Islands.

Wow! A lot of questions, and also a little confusing... But let me answer what I can, based on my understanding of your problem...

1. One check is fine. You do not need two separate checks. That is not the problem.

2. Why did you only send 2 photos? That is definitely a problem. You need to send 2 for the I485, 2 for the I131, and 2 for the I765.

3. You say that the problem on the I131 is self-explanatory. I couldn't figure out what that means, but if you are filing all three applications together, and there is a big enough error on one of the applications that makes it unacceptable to process, then they would most likely not process any of the package, which looks like what they did.

"do they accept the forms I sent the first time, with the stuff printed up the side?"

4. Remember that these forms are probably processed via computer. I don't know what stuff you printed up the side, but that might also cause the forms to be unacceptable.

Good luck. I would resubmit each application and ALL supporting documents together again, correcting the mistakes of course, and include the I-797 forms that you were sent as a reference. It sounded like they did not return the check also, so the I797s will give them the reference number to tie to the check.

I also honed in on this. One check is sufficient, but mentioning you initially sent only two - (somehow now there are 3) you should have sent 6.

Well, they did return the check, it was stapled to the rej. notice for the 485. Had stuff printed on the back. This confused me about whether it was cashed like some places used to where they run it thru some small machine, which prints some stuff on the back.

This page: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1k3aos

says to send TWO passport style pics, so that's what I did. Now I'm confused about that. The guide need to be fixed if we really need to send 6 of the pics

The guide does say to include 2 passport pics for the I-485.

However, if you go down to points 13 and 14 they say:

13. I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, if you want to work while your application is processed (optional)

>> Include any additional required supporting documentation or photos as well as payment as noted here.

14 I-131, Application for Travel Document, if you need to travel outside the United States while your application is processed (optional)

>> Include any additional required supporting documentation or photos as well as payment as noted here.

Therefore when you look at the instructions for filling out each of those forms, they would tell you to include the 2 passport pics for each application.

Just sent your package back with the 6 passport pictures and everything should be ok.

If it was just the pics they needed for the AOS, wouldn't they specify something about needing more pics, or use two for the AOS and send an RFE for them for the EAD or 131.

You'd think so. But there is idiots working for USCIS. Some peoples packages have been returned for not submitting the fee for the EAD, when the $1010 includes that fee. So they sent there package back highlighting that the fee was included.
