No it isn't nice to talk about humans that way, however it isn't a direct attack against a member here. That's the difference.

How isn't it? There are members here who are married to people who are/were illegal aliens. That's like...talking about your husband. As if he were a dog that needs to be crated. I fail to see how one is better than the other. In fact, I find that pretty disgusting.

San Francisco is trying to deal with an existing problem. For whatever reason (I presume along the lines of what Caladan illustrated but I don't know) the City feels that some kind of card is necessary. I don't see how this makes an illegal alien any more 'legitimate' than not having the card. It's not a proof of legal residency or citizenship. I therefore don't quite get why this should anger anyone. It's not as if the City can or should be rounding anyone up and shipping them out (in crates that are of course aeroplanes for those of us who misunderstood the crate comment) instead of handing out cards.

If there is fiscal merit in such a move, so be it.

Really, what a fuss about nothing and we all have turkeys' to cook and thanks to give.

If a member singles out another and said that their partner deserves to be put in a crate and shipped THEN it would be the same. That is a direct attack.

I'm just following the TOS, that's all.

Thank you. I agree in that the initial comment wasn't very nice. No human deserve to be treated that way, regardless of who they are or their situation. But... talking in a general way like that (rather than singling someone out) isn't a TOS violation and if the person meant airplane then it's even less of an "insult" than it was interpreted as and should not to be taken quite so literally.

Anyway, I reckon we should get back to topic and move on now. Thanks.

On the flip side it would be a stroke of genius to go in offering this, get a bunch of locations of illegals, then pack them up in little crates (oh with holes and food and toilets of course, maybe some Dish tv, jacuzzi even?) and send them back from whence they came. *sigh* thank you for not reading into what I said, and actually posting a dictionary entry. I swear people around here are just gagging for a fight - yes crate is slang for airplane (next time I'll say a luxury air liner with the best accommodations as not to offend the crying club), but taking it out of context and going off on one just makes me realise how ignorant and rediculous the people around here really are. I've been accused of being inhuman and a nazi and a bad american, and told to "f off" because some people don't take two seconds to stop, think, read, and interpret. I realise English isn't everyone's first language, and I realise we don't all speak the same slang, but for fecks sake some people need to grow up.

Just hope that instead of defending herself so much that the individual who posted that might realize it was said in poor taste and let's be done with it.

As for the go f yourself, for some reason that doesn't seem as shocking to me. I guess because I'm used to hearing people say that on a regular basis...not to me necessarily but it's somewhat of a common phrase.
