Yes, and I just got back from the UAE on Saturday. Dubai a "playground" for the rich and famous....mmm, not so sure about that but it is a beehive of business activity as of late.

And yes, I have been to the SKI Jump in Emirates Mall; the only thing impressive about it, really, is that it's located in a country where the temperatures top out at around 120F in the summertime. Other than that it's not really a big deal......

It is a prestige thing among wealthy Indians (corporate execs, movie stars etc) to say they vacation at their "flat" in Dubai. Same thing in Pakistan.

Perhaps. Just goes to show you we all don't travel in the same circles. I don't know any "rich" Indians or Pakistani's in the UAE. The ones I know, or have seen are all cleaning toilets, digging ditches, or cutting the grass (yes they do have grass in the UAE)....

I'd agree with the post above that 80% of the people that live/work in the UAE are from someplace else (expats); and the majority aren't rich by any stretch.....
