So, I sent my package in on July 26. I got a receipt on the 28th. The only problem was that the USCIS doesn't put important information in a place that people actually see, so I sent it to TSC. Well, as you know, that doesn't mesh. So I didn't get NOA1 until a full month later on August 28th.

Does this make me a July or August filer?

All you need is a modest house in a modest neighborhood

In a modest town where honest people dwell

--July 22---------Sent I-129F packet

--July 27---------Petition received

--August 28------NOA1 issued

--August 31------Arrived in Terrace after lots of flight delays to spend Lindsay's birthday with her

--October 10-----Completed address change online

--January 25-----NOA2 received via USCIS Case Status Online

What does your RECEIVED DATE say on your NOA1?

The received date they gave me was August 28th.

It really irritates the hell out of me that they are basically putting us a month behind before we even got starts.

Then you are an August filer. Sorry. :(

If it helps any, you're only going to be set back 3-4 weeks. That may sound like a long time, but it could have been a lot worse. They could have held onto the packet for awhile, realized it was at the wrong service center, and outright rejected it back to you.

The problem there is that it wasn't the wrong service center. Texas was listed all over their site. Seriously, I want to say nice things about USCIS, but I can't.

Where did you see the erroneous instructions? If I remember correctly, the service center info is part of the I-129F instructions. While I'd never put anything past USCIS, I haven't heard of them putting out wrong service center instructions.

It was stated all over the place that I needed to send it to the Texas Service Center. They apparently changed the applicable service center on the 30th...AFTER I had filed.
