Do I have to include my husbands income in my taxes for 2007? Or do I just list him as a dependent?

In my conversation with the IRS agent, if I am filing jointly, then we are electing for him to be treated as a resident though he was not a LPR at the time. If he is treated as a resident, then worldwide income is subject to US taxes. Don't worry they won't tax his income, but you can use the taxes that he paid in Jamaica as a credit. Honestly, it is a long convoluted process, so I would just claim him as a dependent. You have to file additional forms if you go the foreign income credit route. So the short answer, no you don't have to use his income.

It depends on how much he made in JA. You have to put that on the form. My husband got paid in cash so his income was 0. Attention anyone who got married in 2007 needs to apply for the W7 form now. Good luck to you all. My husband went to school this fall and we had no help with financial aide I made to much. They said if school cost over 14 thousand then they would help us. I couldn't believe it on my teachers income. Good luck with financial aide help.

Welcome One Luv and all the best with your visa journey. :luv:

OFF TOPIC

I am already sick of being pregnant. The morning sickness has come back and my right hand is so numb. This is our only child. I told hubby I can't do this again plus being a high risk pregnancy case scares me. My apologizes for complaining. The toilet has become my personal slave.

How To Love Your Jamaican Man

1. Never ask where yu man has been, where him coming from or where him going Don't always feel him going to another woman. If yu treated him right he will soon come back. If him don't come back, well you have to work pon dat!

2. Always make sure de food deh pon de table when him come thru de door. Member, "regular fried dumpling keeps your man a humping".

3. Don't forget the "Irish Moss" and "Guinness". A nuff ah dem like pork, but just don't call it pork ... yu mad! Call it a fancy foreign name like ham or franks! Ah it dem mother did grow dem up pon.

4. Never get upset if he accidentally sleeps with yuh friend, sister, or even mother. That only means he is a good man, dem would have never slept with him if him was worthless! Is dem fault fi a pressure him!

5. Never tell yuh man seh yu pregnant - well, not til yuh hide him passport!

6. Never ask how many baby mother yuh man have. Dis may lead to embarrassment because him may have lost count.

7. If him grab yuh up! Tell him that's not how to show love, some think that is the way but don't call de police. It don't mek no sense, because you always end up bailing him out of jail.

8. Never tell yuh man is not your real hair! Dem love long hair gal. Keep telling him dat you're half-Chinese or yu have Indjun in yuh family.

9. Don't listen to your girlfriends advice, especially if dem don't have no man. How can someone with no man tell you how to keep one. Dem always telling you that 'him controlling yu'. She just want someone to keep her company because she have no man. Some of dem even have funny intentions.

10. Never ask to drive your man's car, or give him directions, or tell him to ask for directions when he is lost. Him soon find him way! Grin and bear it.

11. Never ask for your man's home number and address ... some ladies get this strange idea after seeing their man fe three years and having several children for him that this somehow entitles dem to dis privileged information. Be realistic! The relationship is still in its early stages. However, your man might feel generous and offer up his cell phone or pager digits. Be grateful!!!

I have been doing a lot of reading here the past couple days. It's great how you laides support and encourage one another.

I have one question that I think we need to start working on: Immunization records. How did your Jamaican husbands get their immunization records? I'm sure his mother doesn't have anything as she did not even bother to file record of his birth. He grew up with an auntie who is now deceased. Would his school have immunization records?

Thank you in advance for your help. Finding this forum is one of the best things that has happened this new year, although I admit my head is swimming trying to absord the process.

BTW, We filed in June 2007. We've yet to recieve our reciept number. They did cash my check. A month ago they asked for additional documentation as they said my divorce papers didn't include everything. I sent them the entire 50 pages. Customer Service says that is is now taking up to 16 weeks, instead of the normal 4 weeks, to issue receipt numbers. Read a recent article stating that immigration recieved double the amount of applications this year as they did the prior year. Wondering if that means it's going to take twice as long. The silver lining is that our relationship is growing and becoming stronger everyday.

Andre went to his doctor's office. They had his records and transcribed his previous shots and the one's he needed for his medical and got there, into a booklet that he took to the medical.

You can get your receipt number from the bac of your cashed check. It a long number that starts with 3 letters. if they cashed your check then you are in the system. You should be getting an approval soon. Many July filers have already gotten theirs.
