:jest: yup!!!! i think i am doing good when i only have to 2 times....but there are some nights where i should just sleep in the bathroom.....

Thanks for the congrats.

Oh isn't that the truth. I live in the bathroom. If I can wait more than 2 hours to enter the bathroom its a good day. Yes just wait till you are pregnant it suxs so much.

You ain't never lied I'm always in the bathroom already...haha.

I keep hearing about people paying "duty" on these packages they send. My husband has never had to pay duty. What makes you have to pay and not? I admit the shipping on this last sucker was ridiculous, but it was worth it, cause I won't see his family for awhile and its Christmas so I did a little extra. :luv:

I have used Fed Ex and global express priority and both times had to pay. One time I sent a item that cost 6 dollars and he still ended up paying 12 dollars for it. What do you use that you don't have to pay?

We send gifts down sometimes in October with friends who study at my former alumni and when the school goes down in January and June now. We sent his mom a Christmas present in November.

GI Insurance

Jamaican airman Jones was assigned to the induction center, where he advised new recruits about

their government benefits, especially their GI insurance.

It wasn't long before Captain Smith noticed that this Jamaican airman was having a staggeringly high success-rate,

selling insurance to nearly 100% of the recruits he advised. Rather than ask about this, the Captain stood inthe back of the room and listened to Jones' sales pitch.

The Jamaican airman explained the basics of GI Insurance to the new recruits, and then said, "If yu have GI Insurance and go into battle and get killed, the government gwine pay $200,000 to yu family, but, If yu doan have GI insurance, and yu go into battle and get killed, the government only gwine pay a maximum of $6000."

"So," with a smile displaying his pearly whites concluded, "who yuh tink dem gwine send inna bakkle furst?"

Happy Holidays everyone. I need a bit of advice on the medical info that is to be sent for AOS. Chris did not get a TB test. I called Mobay Hope Medical Center they would not fax or let me have someone pickup his copy of the DS3025 so that i can take that to a civil surgeon to even have them transfer that info on to the I-693A supplement for vaccination. I am hearing that the TB is required for AOS? Am i correct? Mobay Hope says that that is not required by the embassy for their medical. So, should i just send the copy of this immunization certificate and his medical receipts with my AOS package or should it go to the civil surgeon and try to get them to fill out that I-693A or get another medical they want 400 somethin for that medical. :(:crying:

Hey Marlita!

I saw the thread you started in the CR1 section and how much attention it got. Just letting you know I fully support your idea. I'm actually gonna be basing my timeline off of yours. I'm still praying for your NOA girl.

I send packages to JA all the time to my SO. I use a service called Mailpac. The service only costs $35 per year. How it works is once you sign up (or ur hubby can sign up for it)...they give you a US address (in miami). So you send ur package from your location to the miami address. Mailpac ships all the packages out once/wk from Miami and it goes to Kingston. Your SO can then collect it from Kingston or have it mailed to wherever he is on the island.

The best thing about Mailpac is that you don't have to pay outrageous duties on the packages. They ask you what is inside and how much it is worth but you're the one that seals it so just tell them whatever lol.

I got a good laptop from Best Buy for $400 that my SO had sent me the money for. I mailed it to him through Mailpac and told them that the box had some old clothing in it that was only worth US$50. My SO only had to pay US$15 to collect it plus the Mailpac fees so it came up to about US$25.

I do business in Jamaica and am always sending things down. I've tried FedEx, UPS, AND DHL and they charge crazy prices for the duties and taxes and other fees. But Mailpac is the way to go

Oh, and if anyone knows of a good service to get things from JA to the US, please link me :help:

We just sent in a copy of the vaccination record the clinic gave Andre when he got his shots. We did not have an interview, so it never came up again. Andre did have a TB test at his medical and he went to MoBay Hope.

Very true. Send the card! With a sexy pic of you in it! Ha ha.

My husband loved it when I did that... and a spicey message

As long as you are comfortable with the fact that someone else may see it. There have been many stories of people not getting mail recently. Some believe it is because some unscrupulous workers may think there is money being sent in Christmas cards and is opening and then discarding them.

The lady there said that they dont randomly just test for that. Chris said he had exrays done so im guessing maybe they checked for it. I guess ill just take my chances and send in the vaccination card. I did make an apt with the civil surgeon for tomorrow just in case for filling out the I-693A that all seems quite stupid since they get all his med info in his k-1 interview papers but i read on a thread here somewhere that someone got an RFE for the TB they filed aos i want to say in june and go that RFE all the way in December stating that their med info from the embassy was not included and they wanted a complete I 693 done

Whoa.....wait just a minute....you are going to a civil surgeon tomorrow? Why? IMO, it's an unnecessary waste of money. He can get that TB test at your family doctor. Just go get it done and have the doctor write a note on his stationary that he got it. Then, send all the info. in for the AOS. If you get notice of an appointment, then waste the money to have a civil surgeon fill out the paperwork and/or see him. Also, if it's just to fill out some paperwork, check out the other forums on here. There is one doctor who will fill out your paperwork for $10. All you have to do is call with the info. and then send them the $.
