Jay, I see you on here. How are things?

As a couple we are doing great. Our dealings with the government continue. We went back to the SS office with our I-94 which we received from Customes and Border Protection. We were denied a SS number because the I-94 was out-of-date. So, now we have to wait until the EAD comes through before going back for the SS number. This number is needed for a driver's license in GA and so many other things. The waiting continues.

I waited on getting the SS number until after we were married to keep from having to go back for the name change. It is very important to go in and get your SS two weeks before your I-94 expires.

I've been reading that K-1's need to go and apply for a SS# within 76 days of the I-94 expiring, just to deal with the name change later. sometimes it's good to read the other forums, even though we love the yardie forums.

Is there no way around that rule, with the driver's liscense?? In NY they took a letter from SS stating that the visa holder wasn't eligible for a social security card.

We had such issues with this Jengles. In Missouri, there seemed no way around waiting for either the EAD or AOS, whichever came first. In our case, the green card came first.

No matter what I tried to do with this one, once the I-94 expired, everything you had gotten to that point expired as well. It was so frustrating.

Will this season ever really end?

Tropical Storm Olga was dissipating Thursday northwest of Jamaica, leaving 13 people dead in its wake in the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Puerto Rico.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said in its final report Olga had degraded to tropical depression status with its center about 80 miles northwest of Kingston, Jamaica, moving west near 13 mph with 30 mph winds.

However, the report said heavy rainfall was expected in the southeastern Bahamas, eastern Cuba, Jamaica and Hispaniola.

The rare December storm, the 15th named storm of the year, formed Monday and first hit Puerto Rico, where one man was killed in a landslide caused by heavy rain. Various reports from Caribbean media said 10 others were killed in the Dominican Republic and two in Haiti, all of the deaths related to flooding. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
