I've tried. I even showed her the print outs I have of this site. She asked me if the information can be trusted. I told her it's from a government website.

almost everyone uses print outs from this site....or she can go onto the gov't website and print out from there....either way if i were her...i would tell the lawyer where he can go...and forget about them......

I'll try and talk to her again. But she's too upset right now. I just walked by her cube and she's clearly upset. I know things are not going well with her, so when she came to me this morning and asked me about the Affidavit of Support and visa and she having to pay the lawyer more, I said something don't sound right. I asked her if she's sure that's what she was told. So, we called the attorney's office and got his assistant and for sure, that was what she told US. I had to lie and say she was my sister. Of course she wanted to know who I was. I didn't even bother to argue with her. ATTITUDE was all in her voice. I asked the assisstant TWICE is she was sure and she said yes, I'm reading the file notes and that's how the K-1 is PROCESSED (with ATTITUDE). When we asked for the attorney, she said he was not available. GO FIGURE!

i feel sad for her....it is one thing to hire someone who doesn't know what they are talking about...it is another thing to have someone give you attitude when you question them....tell her not to beat herself up and that she will get the right info this time if she comes on her or talks to you about it....

I agree...Unfortunately she probably won't be able to get any money back...although I sure would try. They were totally giving her false information and not treating her well. I feel so bad for her. She is more than welcome to come here and we will help her.

I am doing alright...just trying to stay busy. I am so glad I have VJ and all my yardie family...I would have gone mad by now if I didn't. My boss keeps looking over at me...must be typing too much

I went to yoga, then step but it was canceled, so now I'm bord and hubby won't get off work for another two hours.

I just left her cube. I called her son and he's coming to pick her up. They're going to the attorney's office. Her son works on Capitol Hill, so I'm sure he has some connections to get this fined or a complaint file. If I know her, she won't file a complaint. That's just the person she is.

Basically you squat on govt (or private) land for a number of years. If you manage to stay on it for twelve years, you can claim the land as your own and get a title for it.

Trelawny - every state has a bar association that oversees attorneys. They all have some type of grievance panel that people can file complaints against attorneys in - cost is minimal or none, and can be one of an attorney's WORST nightmares to have a grievance filed against them - I am a paralegal, and trust me, nothing strikes fear into an attorney's heart quicker than hearing that word! It doesn't sound like she went to an attorney who normally does immigration work, or at least family based. Unfortunately, there are a lot of attorneys out there who will take any kind of case, even if they aren't familiar in the area - some just think they can do it all.

potty training question/answer - I just left him alone after a while and then he announced to me that he didn't want to wear pull-ups anymore and then he did the same when it came to wearing them at nite. I used to try and force him and didn't want to get into the disciplining thing. when he would be lazy to get up from the tv.

Give her time, maybe buy her some nice underwear and tell her she can't wear them now because she will pee them up. let her pick out the underwear, so u know she likes them.

also with the undies....if you let her wear them out in public and she isn't fully trained yet you can do a couple of things with that as well...a. make sure you have extra change of clothes and a bag incase she has a accident OR...you can put rubber undies of the normal ones incase she has a accident...the rubber ones holds in the leaks and won't get all over her.....just some ideas....

The new underwear thing worked for me. My duaghter was potty trained at a very young age. She would pee in the diaper and take it off BC she did not like how she felt in the wet diaper. I left her alone, and found she'd take her self to the BR. The boys on the other hand they were a bit stubbern, but I just left them alone was well. She will get it together soon.

Hope everyone in the northeast made it too work ok, we got hit with a surprise snowstorm, this morning. it was supposed to hit tonight, but it hit very early this morning instead and is going to last until tomorrow morning. wish these weather men could get it right at least once.

Please be careful. I fell this morning and ended up under my truck (don't ask). My neighbors had to pull me out. Had to go back in the house and change my clothes and I was wearing what I thought were good snow boots. My driveway is an icing ring. I'm made it to work, the streets were okay. People speeding like it was a regular day. So, be careful.

Been there. I did this once in our office parking lot....no lie. The door was frozen shut, I slipped and went sliding under the car. Funny now, but no laughing matter at the time.
