don't even get me started on the healthcare......i'm scrambling and wracking my brain trying to figure out how i am going to pay for all this...my lovely insurance pushed my monthly rate to over 700 a month because i moved and because there are not docs in the area that except them so at the end of this month i will have no health insurance....i can't just get a new plan because i would be denied because of my "condition".....trying to maybe get public assistance is a joke....at this point i have just thrown my hands up because there is not point in worring or crying about it.....but it sucks...sorry for that but it just doesn't seem fair....

well Nanny your pregnant and will soon have a baby so you don't have to worry. You can high tale it to Planned Parenthood and get government assistance if you really have no healthcare and cannot afford otherwise. Look into the Healthy Families option. There are MANY options for you since you are with child.

I really hope no matter who becomes President that Healthcare becomes a priority. I am a single mom of a 5 year old with no insurance for her. My company only pays 1/2 of mine - and it is awful coverage! To get insurance for my daughter would be $400 a month and I just can't afford that and the state of Maine says I make too much money for them to help me out! The only good thing is Maine pays for vaccinations for her. When insurance covers Viagra but not Birth control there is something wrong!!

5 years ago when I had Tierra it was so much better - my company paid 100% and I basically had her for free. I wonder what I will have to pay if I decide to have another child!!??

... don't even ask about her Dad - L-O-S-E-R! :bonk:

Awww Tierra!! That is my nieces name. She looks EXACTLY like me too!

i hope so too....

i will probably be boring people with this info but....just to go to the hospital i will have to pay 1,000...that is just for the hospital.....then for the group that i am going through it is like 2,300...and that is for a natural birth if i need a c-section i can add on about 500 more....that doesn't include blood work, ultrasounds or any other test that i may need....looking at all these numbers just makes me crazy....

You don't have "state hospital' or a "teaching hospital" you can go to for prenatal care/ delivery? When I was just on the verge of having my baby and at the point where I made too much money for public assistance and had no health care. I went to one of these places and was put on a sliding scale for the prenatal visits and the delivery. I ended up not having to pay for any of it, as I was able to qualify for medicade in the end. I recieved excellent care, was very satisfied with the over all experience. The care is completed by students over seen by doctors, it wasn't bad at all. I sometimes saw a student, sometimes a doctor, the person overseeing was in my delivery, so it wasn't like there were a bunch of stranges...not that I care...I never saw the people again away after the birth....that's just too much money to be paying out of pocket

Exactly. There are many options available...just takes some research. Not to sound bad or anything...but I live in LA, and there is a reason why there are many illegal immigrant women who come here and are QUICK to get pregnant.

Can anyone suggest a decently priced all-inclusive or hotel with some amenities in Ocho Rios? Someone is asking me and I've never stayed in Ochi. Just visited.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

i know it just hard when you go from one place where everything was fine and worked out and everything was covered then to move and nothing is covered.....it's just hard....

Aww see I feel so bad for you. You shouldn't have to deal with this kinda stress when pregnant. And you are a contributing worker to this economy! So un fair!

Kimmy,

three years apart, that's nice. My younger sister and I are 3 years apart and we can relate to each other

lawny I so feel u on this one..My job doesn't give paid maternity leave...I have short term disability but that's only 6wks...if they think I'm leaving my chil at 6wkx to go back to their work..dem out a dem mind....dats why mi cancel our vaca for this year cause mi a tek the rest of the year off....pay me or not oh well. My company is sooo big they have their own MRI u think they would have some good maternity benefits to make the women want to come back to work..it's so terrible...

six weeks is nothing, your body needs to rest and then with the stress of baby on top of that, u can't be focused when coming to work.

EXACTLY...so dem tink ppl a run back a wuk just cause dem nah pay u...long dutty kiss teet..dat mek mi even more no waant come back...dem stink like 'ish mi si 1 girl have baby and was back here in like 6wks...mi couldn't believe it..

Jengs mi happy dem ago be 3 yrs mi and my sister after me a 3yrs..we kool well now..but mi used beat har ####### when wi younger she tink she did fiestia dan me !

It's so true! It's because unfortunately our country places a bigger value on the almighty $$ than on Children or family! I remember the first days that I had to go back to work after having my boys...mi bawl...mi bawl...mi bawl huntil!!! It's such a gut-wrenching choice...your child or your house, food, car and everything else our checks help pay for!!

Plus, childcare has tripled since I had babies...I really feel it for my sisters with Babies!! My cousin was telling me that a daycare center she was looking into putting my Godson in was $350 per WEEK!!! I DYAM NEAR FEEL OFFA MY CHAIR!!! I used to pay $175 a week for both of mine and this was 6-9 years ago!! It's disgraceful!!!

Her dad picked Tierra - she likes it because no one else has that name (at least around here)... it sure fits her! And if you call her "Tiara" she will quickly correct you!! LOL

The only problem is she gets so mad when stickers and key chains etc (like at giftshops) dont have her name on them!! :-)

No Nanny,

You don't live with your parents you rent from them. This is where you pull out the rent reciept. Find your hustle.

How about when u go out for maternity leave. I know some who have used disability checks to qualify.

Hey, Irie....is your daughter in school? Does the school offer insurance for the school year? My kids get sent home with this phamplets every year that offer really affordable insurance during the school year.

ditto

Exactly!! You NEVER say you just live anywhere. Once you are an adult...off of anyone elses taxes, you pull out all the stops.

Is 'Rooms' All inclusive? If not Club Ambiance is...It's not in Ochie...but in Runaway Bay...not too far. Does she have kids?

Ken just told me that his hotel was sold in Mobay...The Holiday Inn is now owned by Sunset! Which sucks cause Holiday Inn had the BEST all inclusive prices!!

Gill

P.S.- This is why I miss Luvtravlin...she was good when it came to stuff like that...where to go for a good price!
