Hello all.... havent posted in a few but I have been reading up on everything. :-)

1st of all Classy I think you must be a pretty smart lady for recognizing the loser in this guy before you went too far. My best friend came to visit me while I was living in St Lucia and fell for a guy - unfortunetly I don't think he is up to par and he is showing all the signs of a bad egg but she ingores them. I can only hope she comes to her senses.....

2nd ......... I got my NOA1 today and I am so #%@&^*% HAPPY! I know it is just the beginning but at least it has officially begun! Woohoo!

Now I have a very good reason to go out with the girls this weekend and celebrate! That and its pay day!! :-)

Have a great day all!!!

Cat

CONGRATULATIONS Cat :D, that's awesome!!! You are on your way!

Honestly, if your friend don't want to see the signs, then as they say in JA - If yuh nuh waan hear, yuh will feel!

So I am bored and in a pissy mood so I decide to get a bit of a JA fix and come across this site that has JA reviews...well it just made me in an even more pissy mood. :ranting:

There was only a handful of "ok" posts in amongst numerous posts like this...so sad that this is what people really think and experience - and these are just the recent ones.

January 17, 2008 10:43 PM EST

I was in Jamaica last year on a cruise. This is a very sad country. We traveled from Montego Bay to Negril and saw how the locals live. We also talked with our tour guide and she told us there are not enough jobs for the people that live there. We spent the day at Margaritaville and had a guard watching us the whole time. I am glad I was there but I would never want to return.

January 24, 2008 07:54 PM EST

We had a group of seven people who went to Jamaica last year. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in Montego Bay and did day trips out to other areas. I would not recommend leaving the hotel security unless you had a guide. It would be unsafe. We left the gated hotel area and ventured across the street to shop. I would never do that again. We were mobbed and harrassed by the locals. If you buy from one, you have to buy from the others. We went there to be a blessing to the children in the orphanges and take them things. I was so glad to get back to our country.

January 17, 2008 09:09 PM EST

NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Do not go to Jamaica. Nothing but criminals, drugs and god only knows what. They don't care who you are, how old you are, DRUGS will be offered to you. If you don't get out of that country without getting something stolen, then you are lucky. The only people that like Jamaica, are the folks who are from there or live there. We took a cruise that stopped there, we will NEVER take another cruise that has that as one of its stops, or we just won't get off the ship when it's in port. Very dangerous place, I would never take children there. I do not reccommend that country to ANYONE!

Nearly lost both my kids. Thugs, drugs, never again

Some clown at the resort invited my two 15 yr olds to go to a party with him. He gave them huge joints. They thought they were soooo coool. Had they gone, we might not have seen them again. Busboy stole our camera. Lousy place. Burn it down

Yea Yardie ,

I hear yuh pon dat!! But look Like Catty said...I don't know why People leave their country...if they expect everywhere they go to be exactly like their country! Jamaica is a BEAUTIFUL country...yes she has har problems... but to me she will always be absolutely stunning!! She takes my breathe away everytime I see har!!

So all those people dat bad mouth our country just make me love her even more!! I hope they don't go back to Jamaica...wid dem negative, nasty vibes!! Their loss!!!

Love ya Chica,

Gill

P.S.- I hope tomorrow is better for you!

Here's a couple of Kitty pics to make you chuckle...

I hate when JA, a country which we all hold dear to our hearts, is trashed that way :( It gets such a bad reputation.

You know Yardie I can't stand it either! But I've heard them all before. What I realize is that these people who go to JA have no idea what a developing country can look like. They also are usually white sububanites who are afraid to go into more impoverished neighborhoods within their own city. They have no frame of reference as to what "dangerous' really means. Many are very afraid of Black people or other people of color and associate negativity to them and their culture by what they see in media or just from their own uncomfortableness. Now I know that many Jamaicans can be intimidating and theft does happen, but as a huge majority of the times Jamaicans can be some of the most fun loving sincere people you will ever have a chance to meet. There's those rotten few who can smell the fear of a new tourist a mile away.

Another issue is tourists...especially American ones are waaaayyy too stush! Things like drugs and men hitting on them is not common out in your face practice to many so that intimidates them too.

I always say there are 2 types of tourists who leave Jamaica, those who love it, and those who hate it, I don't find an in between person even exists. You should check out tripadvisor.com, that site has forums and people get viscious with discussions on Jamaica....its crazy.

So true!

 Maybe I am biased, since it's where I am from. I have seen Jamaica's bad, but the good have always outweighed the bad. As much as I love the opportunities that are afforded to me here in the US, Aaron and I will more than likely live out our twilight years in Jamaica (on the North Coast )

I love to hear from those who love our countries, but it always seems that when someone has a bad experience, there is such an exaggeration!!

I remember in the 80's when the Min. of Tourism would play ads that told us not to harass the tourists, because "tourism ah go get bad blow"

Hush classy, it's like baby daddy drama all around...sometimes it is so hard with someone that you have known and loved at some time in the past. Do you get back in contact with him because of the children? it is especially hard for you now especially judging by what you have gone through with your ex. My dear, if he is not a good staple to be in your children's life or if he has chosen not to remain in their lives because you won't allow him in yours, then he is certainly not worth it!!! If not for you, do it for your children because they don't need the rollercoaster.

Just my $0.02. You know you have nothing but love on here (L) for you

I've been there, done that with my ex (we don't have any children though); about 6 years ago, I got fed up and cut all communication with him. I sent him an email telling him that there was no way that we could be friends and in order to preserve our SO's feelings, I thought it was best for this to end where it was. I was good friends with his best friend, so I cut off communication with his friend and gradually, I was able to get him out of my life...now he has a sneaky way of getting back in, but for the most part, we haven't seen each other in over 5 years!!!
