Oh man, I saw the locked thread and was hoping for a big brawl!

Since I can say ANYTHING here...I have a question: why do the ladies on MENA constantly get into brawls? Amazing how a thread as benign as "The Monday Thread" can get locked for nastiness. What is UP with that?

Because we can  Rubbernecker

no one can fight like the mena girls (trademarked by vj troll).

and actually, it's calmed down quite a bit.

Give us time. Everyone's on holiday. You need at least 3 menas to squab properly.

Marilyn - you should definitely treat yourself to a pedicure! It is such a wonderful thing to experience!!

Tasha - It stinks that you have to work on Christmas! Hopefully the US will treat you better next year!

Speaking of stinks - Charles - This is the SAY anything thread, NOT the fart thread :bonk:

VJ Troll - I have a 4 day weekend, and we're hoping they'll let us leave at 3 tomorrow!

what's wrong with cooking other than American food in thanksgiving??

specially if some family members ain't american, I understand the meaning of the day, but I don't think it'd make a difference if I eat turkey, menudo (good idea charles!!) or some coconut curry with goat meat

100% agreed Pedroh  We make some american food and always gotta have the arabic food. ITs not about the turkey or yams, its about family and giving thanks.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

i don't mind da turkey, but I don't think you're obliged to cook traditional american food.. besides, it varies from region.. I bet in the north they dont eat collard greens cooked with fat backs, or yam casserole with marshmallow on top.. or chitlings

Thankfully, everyone in my family hates traditional Thanksgiving turkey. We'll be doing turkey meatballs with an Indian-style curry and spices. Yum.

But it won't all be un-American. There will be meatloaf and mashed potatoes too :P

For non-traditional fare, we will be having stuffed grape leaves, roasted leg of lamb, rice with pine nuts and roasted almonds, hummos, and and a few arabic desserts since no one in our family likes pie.
