Freecycle is awesome.

My husband washed my cell phone. The screen was cracked. It was a goner. I was teh pissed. He got on Freecycle and wrote a post about how he was a dumbarse and washed my cell phone. Within 3 hours, he had not one, but two free new cellphones, both newer than the one he washed, both locked from the same company I use for service, and both work great. One came with a car charger which is one more accessory than I had with the old washed phone. Awesome, because we also needed to get my husband a cell phone, but we have been since September lazy or cheap or something.

I almost never use the cell phone, so it is a pre-paid GoPhone. Is anyone else shocked by how much it costs to have a cell phone? When I was looking last April, the cheapest plans I could find started at $30 a month all with 2 year contracts. Maybe I am just really cheap or have a fear of cell phone commitment, because I thought that was a little ridiculous. I wasn't really enthralled with the idea of the GoPhone, but it turned out it isn't that bad. I keep having rollover balances added to my new balances because I don't even use the cash that it on it in the three months I have to buy more minutes and I put on about $30 every three months. Whenever he feels like it, my husband is going to get his 'new' phone a GoPhone plan.

I suppose my husband made up for his mistake. I forgive him. This time...

As for Freecycle, it is awesome to get stuff from it, but whenever we try to give it away, people flake out on us or ask us a gazillion questions, like where is it when it says right in the subject line and in the message exactly where in Indy it is. Tsk.

This weekend, they decided to replace the free washer and dryer behind my apartment with pay machines! It's only for 4 apartments, and I know one family (in a 1 bedroom ) was abusing the privalage, but come on! It's now $3 to wash my laundry if the dryer worked properly, but it doesn't so it's actualy $4.50 for laundry right now! I would have liked some warning
