My questions are: How the he)) do you guys pop in and out of so many threads, and are able keep up with so many conversations, some of you speed posters seem to similtanously post in like 6-7 threads? Is there a special feature unknown to me that allows / assist VJ users with speed posting.

off topic but my master's advisor was lovin the first draft of the thesis... yay! Not expected. I thought it was a POS.

It's long-form journalism really, it's about musical cultural appropriation. In this case, Americans who playy Gy.psy music, more or less. (I swear, it's really interesting and brings up a lot of issues about the American zeitgeist )

That does sound interesting. Are you in an interdisciplinary or cultural studies-type program?

Speaking of gypsy music, da husband and I saw Gogol Bordello a couple of months ago. They were really good. Not quite American, but kind of...?

It's a master's in journalism. Gogol Bordello figures into my thesis for sure. I even got a VIP pass to see them here in NYC for the article. I like them, but ever since I started the project I've certainly had a shift of opinion about them...

What sort of shift?

Yeah but I think Eugene might be kind of a liar about the whole Gypsy heritage thing. He's not really playing Gypsy music either. Did you see him with Madonna at Live Earth? "My romani gypsy friends from gogol bordello!" she announces. It's crazy. But then he's using the romani flag behind him when they play, and Eugene is always trying to aid Romani peoples... it's complicated. I don't like the music less, but it makes me feel conflicted now.
