My mom's split pea soup recipe...

1-1/2 cups dry split peas, washed

4 cups hot water

1 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

1 bay leaf

1 garlic clove

1/8 teaspoon dried cloves or allspice

1 cup ham cubes or 8 slices fried bacon (crumbled)

1 sauteed onion

1/8 cup margarine (not sure if this is used to sautee the onion  )

Cook above on low for about 2-3 hours. Add 1 large grated carrot 1 hour before soup is done.

This is how I make split pea soup....

Cook about 1/2lb of bacon chopped up small in a stock pot

Add about 2 carrots, 1 celery, 1 onion to the bacon fat and cook it in the fat on low heat covered to sweat the veggies about 20 mins or until they're tender & one pork hock ...S&P this

Add 2 bags of peas

8 Cups of Water & a few tablespoons of ham soup base

Depending on my level of motivation on that day I chop up the meat on the pork hock and add it in if not I leave the hock in overnight

YAY DONE! unless someone gave me the recipe I don't have recipes I just do stuff

I think i busted our in-sink garbarator..... last week I was rinsing out our 5 gallon fish tank and didn't even think of the few remaining bits of the gravel on the bottom...

well today I was dumping a pot I had soaking down that drain and I noticed that the sink was draining very slowly... so I turned on the garbarator and it just hummed a bit so I turned it off and turned it on again and this time it did nothing :o... so upon closer inspection I saw the gravel from the tank stuck in the little drain holes :help: I managed to get it out but the garbarator still doesn't work.. the motor probably burned out....

STUPID, STUPID ME!!!!
