The only middle class people I know who have done that, are the ones who have inherited their property. When I first moved to Caly, the older people in my neighborhood were leaving the state once they sold their homes.

I agree. I don't see how they can buy $million homes and expect to pay it off. Not only that, but most of them continue to upgrade and want something bigger. The debts never ends. Property tax alone is a killer.

Can you image your job transferring you from Caly to the East Coast? Shucks,,, you can buy 5 houses with equity from here. (If you still have equity and not an interest only loan)

It will be a dream with the salary in CA, but living in the east coast (depends where though). I heard NY isn't that far off in terms of cost of living. Same with Chicago.
