I prefer canned but homemade is ok, too. As long as it doesn't have orange juice or zest in it. I don't want to taste anything but cranberries. No nuts or anything like that in it either.

ditto! :thumbs:

I found these recipes....

Cranberry Ice

Ingredients

8 cups water

4 cups fresh cranberries

3 cups sugar

Preparation

Combine all ingredients in a Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and cook 15 minutes or until all cranberries pop. Strain cranberry mixture through a fine sieve over a bowl, discarding solids. Cover and chill.

Pour the cranberry mixture into the freezer can of an ice-cream freezer, and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. Spoon cranberry ice into a freezer-safe container; cover and freeze 1 hour or until ready to serve.

Yield

10 cups (serving size: 1/2 cup)

Cranberry Ice

INGREDIENTS

* 2 (12 ounce) packages fresh cranberries

* 2 cups white sugar

* 1 1/4 cups fresh orange juice

* 1 cup fresh lemon juice

DIRECTIONS

1. In a large pot, add cranberries and enough water to cover. Boil until cranberries begin to pop. Drain and put through a food mill placed over a large bowl.

2. While still warm add sugar to dissolve in the warm berries. The amount of sugar may vary depending on the tartness of the berries, so if you decide to add more sugar remember that the mixture will be tarter when it has been frozen.

3. After dissolving the sugar in the berries, stir in fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh squeezed lemon juice. Pour in 8 or 9 inch square pan and freeze overnight. Take out of the freezer 5-10 minutes before cutting.

Mint leaves

Rinse cranberries, removing any soft bruised berries. Drain.

boil. Boil 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and

cool to room temperature. Pour through fine mesh strainer pressing to

extract as much juice as possible from berries. Stir in wine.

Freeze mixture in ice cream maker according to manufaturer's

instructions. Spoon ice into chilled loaf dish. Cover and freeze

until serving time.

To serve spoon into serving glass or bowl. Garnish with mint leaves.

I put other. I can't stand cranberries with turkey and gravy. YUCK!!!!!!!!!

But if I HAD to eat them, it would NEVER be canned. You shouldn't be able to "slice" cranberry sauce.

I do like fresh cranberry muffins or scones - NO CRAISINS though.

I'll drink some cranberry juice on occassion, but have zero interest in cranberry sauce. As others have said, why do you "slice" sauce? If I want sauce, then apple will do just fine.

well, the stuff in the can isn't sauce.... it is called Cranberry Jelly..... :whistle:;)

Not here. The can (Ocean Spray) even says "Jellied Cranberry Sauce". Here in Indiana, nothing is called jelly unless it comes in a jar and is usually spread on toast.

You can make homemade cranberry sauce? :blink:

:lol:

As long as it's whole berries, I don't care!

Homemade cranberry sauce is easy. Basically just cooking cranberries with sugar. The way my mom cooks it, you can totally tell that it is WHOLE BERRIES. (But I'm still not eating it on my turkey :whistle: )

One bag of Cranberries

One Cup of Sugar

One Cup of Water

Boil then simmer until all berries have "popped" and mixture is kinda thick. Then let cool and stick in the fridge. That's it.

Some people add orange juice and/or zest, but that's just wrong.... lol

I made my own cranberry sauce this year and I was very surprised to find that when it sat in the fridge overnight it came out exactly the same consistency and flavour as the stuff from a can! So don't feel guilty about eating the canned stuff...
