I'm a coffee lover too, but switched to tea after going to England....they didn't have coffee in the hotel rooms (well they did, but it was instant..that's a sacrilige). I got over the withdrawal (headaches) but I work at a school..and as soon as I got back to work for the fall..i'd smell it brewing...I'd fix some tea...but it called my name...seducing me...summoning me. I was weak, I gave in. In America, Texas in particular, our cups are bigger than in England. So I fixed myself a big ol 12 ounce mug of joe and BAM!!!!! I'm re addicted. It must be horrible to quit smoking because just quitting coffee is a monkey on my back!

Timeline

I first tried coffee with my Grandmother at the age of three. We both took cream and sugar, extra sugar in my case and I loved it. So we would get up at 6 am in the morning and we would both have a couple cups. Of course I would be full of energy until about 11 am or so then BAM!!! I would be fall fast asleep. Coincidence, I think not. Grandma knew what she was doing as she gave birth and raised 10 children. this lasted until I started school at the age of 5.

As I grew older I switched to Pepsi cola and all was good until I turned 30 then BAM!!! Kidney stones. Wow! was that ever a pain in my side. So the Doctor said no more Pepsi, coffee or tea. I drank Pepsi and was very fond of tea ( I used to take an empty quart mayonnaise jar, fill it with hot water and 5 Lipton tea bags and let it steep for an hour and drink it plain, no sugar, no cream at age 10. OK, back to the story). So I drank only water and milk for next couple years until in 1998 I received a coffee pot as a housewarming gift after the purchase of my first house. It sat there rarely used until 2000. And then one day, I thought I sure would like some of that Irish cream flavored gourmet coffee. And then BAM!!! that was it.

Now I cannot go a day without it, nor do I want to. It is surely a gift from God. The doctors say that it is one of the potent anti-oxidant rich drinks known to man. But be aware that you are not to drink so much as to make your little heart go flutter, flutter. 24 ounces a day is the proper amount. And never, never, never vary from your schedule as headaches the likes of you have never known will strike you down. Leaving you unable to function properly.

Now I rarely drink soda pop (this drink is the true villain, rots out your teeth, makes you fat, gives you diabetes and some new findings relate it to some more serious health issues, that is what I heard lately who knows if its true?), I drink some tea with a little sugar( I love the English Black breakfast tea, And my friend from China brought me back some " Emperor Goddess tea" that is partially fermented green tea that is hand rolled into little balls by Chinese people. Maybe the name loses something in the translation. But we are still working on his English skills.Good stuff though.), I drink a little milk for breakfast and of course my coffee ( liquid Coffeemate French vanilla creamer, Dark French roast brewed coffee and a teaspoon of splenda.)

About 24 ounces a day and never, never, never vary from the schedule. That is the rule!

My beloved Joy is here, married and pregnant!
