Yes, very confusing. If you have a K3 case, you are married. What do you mean by "single paper"?

Is there any such thing is single paper? There are marriage certificate, divorce certificate/decree. Are you pursuing K-1? If so, please read the K-1 guides. If you are applying for K-3 (your profile says so), then why do you need a single paper?

I had to get it from the US, so that I can marry her in China.. you have to go to your consulate office where you live and apply there.. just an official statement saying you are single and able to marry.. so other countries can validate that..

Please stop speculating. There are multiple possible answers and we won't know which is appropriate until the OP clarifies. We don't even know if this is the petitioner or beneficiary or whether they are married or planning marriage.

The OP has not given a timeline. One cannot be certain their "help" is actually helping until they can be sure of the question. In any event, evidence of marital status requirements vary by country.

HI. I got married in China this last august and i am currently waiting for my first NOA for form 1-130. Anyway, I know exactly what you are talking about. What I did was visit the U.S. consulate nearest my wife's city, which was Guangzhou. As a divorcee, I had to show my passport and the decree of divorce. Then I just signed a statement swearing that I was free to marry. If you have never been married, you only need to be an American and sign the document swearing your freedom to marry.

To be honest, they probably would have had no idea if i was married previously or not. But I think telling the truth is always the best route.

With that paper, we were married a few days later. I hope this helps a little.

It might help if the single paper in question is for getting married in China. There are actually three distinct methods for obtaining the needed affidavit of single status required for a foreigner to marry in China. You've described what can be the easiest one if travel itineraries allow.

If there are three ways to do this in China, take a wild guess on how many ways there are to do it throughout the world. And then multiply that by at least two for how many ways there might be for a foreigner to document their current marital status.

China does too but I'm not aware of any other countries that do. Perhaps most notable is that you cannot get a certificate of no marriage or of single status from the US Government. No way. No how. Marriage is controled by States. There is no national registry of marriages. US Citizens who marry abroad in countries that require some sort of certification, must do so with affidavits, not certificates. As a result USC's willing to lie can become bigamists.

If you want an affidavit of single status or something to that effect to use in Jordan, suggest you go to the website of Jordan Embassy to the USA and get information about marrying in Jordan as a foreigner. If the information is not on their website, contact them directly. Each country has its own requirements and they vary widely.
