It doesn't do any good to sugarcoat the situation. I would have much rather heard 2-4 months is the norm for my situation and got it early, then to think it would be a few weeks and it turned into 3 months. :crying: I think telling people here waiting what reality is is much kinder than saying...'don't worry it won't be long' when in reality we have no clue. You are a great source of support to people here MK. :luv:

I agree  Don't worry, it wasn't unsupportive. And it was aimed at me so don't worry what the other think ;)

I did have one of those days yesterday, but I'm much better now and I deffinantly prefer the truth (hurst less in the long run). I just get pissed off at the consulate employees who tell you these things and create false hope. My fiance really did believe them  I told him to hope for about 3 months, but it could be more like 6. So when I called him yesterday he was very positive and said not to get sad yet, it hasn't even been 3 months  He also told me to have paitience and it will happen when it happens - aka: don't call DOS, just wait it out..... he's taking it better than me at the moment

يَايُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءامَنُوا اسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَوةِ اِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّبِرِينَ

Good morning

Anyone ever get the visa from Cairo without being sent back for additional checks?? I doubt it.... :( I just called DOS and they said his case is still in AP in Cairo... I wish they would just tell you what they were doing with the case. Is he flagged for field investigation? Is the case just taking time to get processed before they send it for the additional checks? There are too many questions, and they don't answer them  I'm not asking for specifics, just want to know what to expect  I guess in the long run I should just expect to be waiting another year and get on with my life. I try not to make plans, but it's hard...

Sorry about the rant  DOS is very bad for the health...

Awwwwww *hugs* hang in there PB....

The "not knowing" is so stressful... and it seems there never are any concrete answers about what exactly they're doing back there in the bowels of the consulate and DOS. As you said it's so hard to not make plans....

And when Cairo tells people ####### like "we'll call you in 2 weeks" it sure doesn't help -- because they almost NEVER live up to their promise. 2 weeks, 2 months, it comes and goes and nothing -- and this stupid empty promise just makes people worry something is wrong, when actually it's just the usual slow processing for cases there.

Insha'allah your AR won't take a year...God no !!!! But I have to say that looking at other cases through Cairo these days, you should brace yourself to expect at least 4 or 6 months. There have been a couple of quickies that sped through within weeks, and hopefully yours will, too. But the usual is a lot longer. If you resign yourself to expecting the long wait, you don't set yourself up on pins and needles each day waiting for the call.

Hang in there, girl !

It has come to my attention that my post above was considered "negative" or "unsupportive" by some readers.

I want everyone to know that it was never my intention to add to anyone's burden of stress or unhappiness by talking about a potentially longer wait -- if I upset anyone who is waiting, I apologize.

The 4 to 6 month delay I talked about is just a rough estimate based on a couple of years of watching the general trend of VJ members through Cairo -- it is by no means a universal experience. No case is the same, and some cases move incredibly quickly. Anything is possible.

So anyway sorry if I inadvertently hurt any feelings....

As always, wishing the best of luck to all -- I hope everyone will be reunited with their loved ones ASAP.
