Doing things through the US Embassy here in Tunisia vs the USCIS has saved us SOOOOO much time! If anyone has the opportunity to file through the Embassy vs USCIS, I highly recommend doing it. From the time we filed the I-30 to when we will have our Immigrant visa interview (and get the visa) it'll only be 43 days! Compare that to 8 months+ with USCIS!

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it. In happy moments, praise God. In difficult moments, seek God. In quiet moments, worship God. In painful moments, trust God. Every moment, thank God.

Yes, it is true you have to live in the country for at least six months before hand, but there are many people that do live in foreign countries but do not take the opportunity to file through the Embassy and instead file with USCIS.

Indeed, a lot of folks are not aware of the possibility of DCF filing, and in most cases it is waaaaay quicker than going through USCIS (exception made of Montreal which made our lives miserable for one freakinnnnn year  )

Your post is a good source of information for everyone who is wondering about their options while living abroad!

Peace, L.
