Corn syrup on its own is fine and not responsible for all these bad things we read about nowadays. It is the high fructose stuff that we should steer clear of. ;)

I saw liast night - that the sausage I normally get has corn syrup in it, which in turn had HFCS in it!

Oh damn, bloody stuff is everywhere. Argh!

That soggy oversalted canned crud is VILE... but I made my own from scratch this year with real fresh ingredients and oven-fried onions on top, and it was delicious (and healthy too!)

NO! YUCK! Only like my green beans, as natural as they come, lightly steamed so they still snap when you bite them.

Made a semi-fresh.. green bean bake.. for Thanksgiving..

Found some fresh Green Beans at Zoopans.. Portabello mushrooms.. .cream.. salt pepper.. but have to admit.. added one can of cream of mushroom soup. and used the onion thingys. .

stirred the cream and soup.. mixed with the beans.. took the fried onions.. mixed them.. only 1/4 of the can.. .. sliced some brown mushrooms.. along with the Portabello.. mmmmm. lined the side of the casserole bowl with the shrooms.. poured in the beans.. adding mixture of teh mushrooms and fried onions to the top... baked it.. ..

OHH goodness mmm mm soo good.

Yes to the green bean casserole and mom sometimes also fixes the sweet potatoes with pecans, some marshmallows/brown suger but she also adds pineapple. I like it too. As our family grew though we had to come up with another veg so here is another addition to our holiday meals:

Scalloped Corn

1 can cream style corn

1 can whole kernel corn

2 eggs

1 cup sour cream

1 1/2 sticks butter (melted)

1 box Jiffy Corn Mix

few slices Swiss Cheese (or shredded to mix in with it)

Mix first 5 ingredients, then add mix (and shredded cheese if using shredded). Mix well. Pour into buttered 13x9 and bake at 350 for about 45 minutes. If using cheese slices, bake for 35 minutes, place cheese slices on top and bake another 8-10 minutes.

You may also sprinkle top with sugar before baking (optional)
