Ever had deep fried sweet potatoes? Yum..........

Ooooh I love deep fried sweet potatoes  I like them baked in their skins too so that the skin goes all crispy..

For my first ever thanksgiving.. Not last year but the year before... Someone did a sweet potato casserole, but I think it had pecans in it too? UGH! It was fantastic! I don't seem to remember there being any marshmallows in it though...

Ohhh that sounds like a nice addition to my already perfect dish. :D

They were good!

And YES marshmallows go with sweet potatoes. It's not like the whole fluffy blob is lying there on top of the raw veg. You melt them in a double-boiler and it goes into the rest of the ingredients before the casserole is baked.

I wonder who came up with that though?

A mother, trying to convince their kids to eat their vegetables.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

at least they are getting the vegetables..

actually don't vegies have natural sugars??

My mom made us eat 'veggies' not 'veggies with sugar added'.

Natural sugars are a completely different thing. BUt yes, yams/sweet potatoes have a high sugar count already. Te only thing higher in carbs + calories is eggplant.

I mash sweet potatoes with marshmallow fluff and a touch of orange juice.... kids love it!

*gag*

Seriously? That sounds way too artificially sweet.

To each his own.

I've also mashed them with butter and cinnamon.

 My mom's recipe calls for butter, nutmeg, corn syrup and orange juice. I'm going to substitute the corn syrup with something else though.

Corn syrup on its own is fine and not responsible for all these bad things we read about nowadays. It is the high fructose stuff that we should steer clear of. ;)

I saw liast night - that the sausage I normally get has corn syrup in it, which in turn had HFCS in it!

my husband drives me crazy

that's their job

I'm serious. I was cooking green beans casserole for weeks half an year ago and he never tried. Then a few days ago we were talking about Thanksgiving dinner and he asked for another veggie and I asked which one he said green beans. Then I said I've been cooking that and he never tried. And he used the lame excuse I was cooking to myself :bonk:

Now he says he hates it.:help:
