Ok so we're just getting our last few bits of paperwork together for the CR1 and almost ready to send them off. We're applying for myself and my daughter to move to the US to be with my hubby. Daughter is 6 years old.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if they will process mine and my daughters paper work together? So they're at the same stage all the way through? Or do they treat them as 2 entirely separate applications?

I take it you mean your US Citizen husband is about ready to file I-130 petitions for you and your daughter. After they are approved, you and your daughter can apply for immigrant visas.

It is USCIS's policy to process parent and child petitions together when they are filed together but there is no gaurantee they will actually do so. In our case, they did.

No. The I-130 is just the first step. That approval basically says you're allowed to move to the next step, which is dealt with by the NVC. Lots and lots more waiting and paperwork, I'm afraid.

I know it's confusing. I had a bear of a time finding relevant information on exactly what happens - so much is conflicting and there's not much specific to NZ.

In my case, my sons (who are 16 and 17) were processed somewhat separately to mine. I got stuck in administrative review, whereas the boys carried on. We didn't send in the payments or any forms for them until we were able to do all three at once, but even still, it leaves a 2 month gap between some of their dates and some of mine.

All that said, I've been assured that they are still flagged as being together and will be dealt with that way once they hit the Consulate here.

Have your husband be sure and mail the applications together with the G-325 forms and the other required information. Once the USCIS approves the application, they will forward the case to the National Visa Center who will then send you bills for two processing fees and send you notices when some additional forms are due. You can find some more info at www.USCIS.gov and you can google the US Embassy New Zealand. Also, make copies of everything you send in case something is lost.
