Side:

* Steamed green beans topped with carmelized onions, seasoned butter ( keep it simple- cracked pepper & salt. ), and toasted almonds.

Easy enough.

And I hope everone does theirself a favor and uses CRANBERRY SAUCE:

Cup of Water

1/2 cup sugar

Bag of Cranberries

Boil

When the berries are popped, your sauce is done. Add sugar to taste. I like mine less sweet and more tangy.

Real sauce is so easy. Do it. Don't punish yourself. And don't make me come over to your house and confiscate your turkey. :P

You know what's surprisingly easy for a dessert & goes great as an alternative for those who don't want to eat a pie?

Easy as hell - baked apples -

- Toss 1 cup water + 1/2 cup sugar in a pot with cinnamon in it. Boil till it's about 50%-75% of the mixture left

- Grab some nice fat Roma apples - core em, bout 1" hole straight down the middle

- Get yourself a small 12" square pan (or, one sized right for the number you're making)

- Toss the apples in, pour the liquid on, sprinkle the centers with cinnamon & nutmeg

- Bake till they're soft.

- Top with a tad of whipped cream.

It's sweet, it's good, it's not pie, and it's not fattening.

Everyone wins.

*oh yeah* dang ... if you've got convection - use it. :P Roast that thing till it's good & brown - then slap 100 degrees off the heat to finish.

I just used it for the 1st time on a turkey breast this weekend ... and ... wow. It was incredible - juicier than I've ever seen it. Stab that thing with the slicing fork and juice literally poured out. I never knew I could do that to turkey. :D

+ cook by temperature. Much better than working by time. Invest $10.00 in an in-the-oven thermometer. Your food comes out right every time.

Sorry KyanWan,

Its just not thanksgiving unless I have cranberry sauce in the shape of a can. I make the fresh stuff from scratch too. My recipe is very similar to yours except I add OJ and orange zest.

 cranberry sauce in a can.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

We are very traditional with our Thanksgiving dinner and I will absolutely not stand for stuffing with any nuts, dried fruit, or sausage. I like stuffing with bread, celery, green onions, butter, chicken stock, poultry seasoning, salt, pepper. That's it!

My Dad always barbecues out turkey and it is so good and smokey.

I can't wait!

I have often thought about this however I am pitiful and keeping things alive, basically I just can't. So I don't have a garden and I would have to find a baby safe spot because Khalil is a little tornado of destruction. Maybe in a few years! So Sara spill the recipes - got anything good for asparagus?

Ps. I have been seeing tons of ads everywhere for "Thanksgiving in under 2 hours" and I just don't get it. For my family Thanksgiving is about cooking all day and smelling the turkey on the barbecue for hours. It wouldn't be Thanksgiving if we didn't spend all morning baking and cooking. Why would someone want to make their Thanksgiving meal in one hour?

I like roasted or grilled asparagus with olive oil, salt, pepper and at the last minute I like to add some parmasaen cheese. That's about as fancy as I get with asparagus. I think green beans are the only green vegetable we have at Thanksgiving. It's pretty much a carb fest at our house.

probably because some people have to work all morning before coming home and trying to make dinner.

amera, if you want to get an easy way to grow herbs try an aero garden. we have one here and its very simple with a huge variety of fresh herbs right in your kitchen.
