phone records needed for interview?

My wife and I have been approved at NVC and are awaiting our appointment date at Montreal.

We have been talking about evidence needed and one of the things we have been discussing is phone records. We talk about 2 hours a day, every day, on the phone. When we started talking to each other about 2 years ago the first full phone bill I got was very large. I called Verizon and they put me on a Freedom plan, which saved me a lot of money. If we had not had that we would have had to restrict our calls but with it we can talk whenever we want. Recently, my wife and I started to gather documentation. I tried to get a record of the calls we have been making only to find out that they do not track the individual calls nor total calling time, and their explanation is that is how they can offer the calling time so cheaply.

Now we are concerned that without the record of individual calls we will have a difficult time during our interview.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on this? I can get proof that I have been on the Freedom plan and that it allows unlimited calls to the US and Canada.

For the most part, MTl rarely asks for any type of evidence. Did I bring any? Yes. Bought one of those plastic accordian binders that had like 12 compartments (not too big--if to big, they wont allow it in!) I brought a few pics,letters, and travel airfare receipts. Did they ask to see any of it? Nope The actual interview is normally super quick. In and out in less than 10 minutes!

Maybe a certification/ letter from Verizon explaining about the Freedom plan. Also your wife can present the monthly phone bills/receipts even if the calls & call durations are not reflected.

Like flames said, Montreal rarely asks to see any of that kind of thing, but that didn't stop me from being prepared LOL. The first bill from when you started talking would be an excellent piece of evidence to indicate the start of your relationship, and it should also prove why you went the more frugal route with the Freedom plan!

I believe evidence such as phone records and the like are more typical of an overseas relationship as opposed to a CanAm relationship. Canada and the US have a unique relationship where citizens of both countries can pretty much come and go at will. In countries which require travel visas or are part of the VWP, it is much more likely for USCIS to question the validity of a relationship.

We couldn't get phone records either - cause I was in an apartment when my phone line was linked under the owner's name - so my name was no where on the bill. I always called my hubby - so we were without records for the most part..

I did bring MSN chats and e-mails though.. do you have any of those?

Yes and I am in the process of printing out 2 years worth of emails now.

Honestly, you don't need to print all of them! How about a selection spanning the length of your relationship?

Dont bother with 2 yrs of emails!! a few would suffice. Think the most I have heard the Interviewer asking for is a picture or 2! Really, for most, the interview is the easiest part! It only gets tricky for those that had criminal probs in the past, etc etc.

They didn't ask us for anything like that, in fact I offered to show them and he waved it off. They really don't seem to check that stuff unless they get suspicious. I have that same plan by the way, and all I would take is one of the bills with the notation "Free long distance US/Canada" and they will understand along with pix, plane tickets, credit card statements (with charges in Canada) and those emails.

Don't get too worried, they're not too bad about this part.

of course i had my now pregnant wife and son with me.
