Hi Vonicks!

We've been asking and talking so much about that CENOMAR thing already and lots of mind got already confused about that, I never had the interview yet but we're pretty sure that we're almost there, my husband is now just waiting for the DS-230 packet and hope he will receive it soon! MY ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION, based on other peoples answers to our question (cuz we also asked that question before cuz we want to make everything ready for the interview date as soon as possible) IS WHAT U NEED IS A CEMAR AND NOT THE CENOMAR because CENOMAR is CErtificate of NO MARriage and if ur married obviously the NSO cannot give u that..

CEMAR is CErtificate of MARriage and let me just share to u my experience when I went to NSO last week to get that thing.. let me elaborate because a lot of people are so confused about CENOMAR and CEMAR (including me bofore!)

I came to NSO (San Fernando Pampanga since am from Angeles City) at 11:30am and I asked the guard (holding/giving out the forms to applicant) on how to get the CEMAR CRS Form #5, I expalined to him that it is a certificate that will state how many marriage/s I had.. the guard said i must be asking for a CENOMAR and i said no, what i need is a CEMAR CRS #5 but the guard keep on insisting that they don't have such thing like that and i almost back out and go home! But then i thought of going inside and ask the two people at the information desk if they know what form I must fill up if I need to get a CEMAR, these two people thought what I need is the regular authenticated marrriage certificate, they told me to fill up the pink form but I said no, I already have the authenticated marriage cert. and what I need is the CEMAR CRS #5, I even told them that the CENOMAR is CRS #4 but what I need is the CRS #5, and I can't have that since I am already married, they said they don't know what am talking about, they only know about the CENOMAR and not the CEMAR thing! (Imagine these NSO employee doesn't even know what this CEMAR is! I felt really hopeless that time!) but I insist to them that there must be such thing like that since the EMBASSY will be asking that from me! I think they sensed that am really serious about what am asking so they told me to wait till 1pm and talk to the person(a guy) inside the office (they call him SIR). Thank God I have the patient to wait that day! I waited till 1pm and finally had the moment to talked to SIR, I explained to him that what I need is a certificate that will state how many marriage/s I had and it's called CEMAR CRS #4 and he understood what I want! he said, "ok what u need is to fill up the same form for the CENOMAR but what u'll get is a CEMAR, it's a green form and we only give out 45 forms a day, come here while God is still sleeping if u can! because 45 forms are given out before 4 or 5 am.." HUH!! I tought then that I must be really so early so am thinking of goin back on thursday, travel at 2am so ill be there before 3am! Hope there will still be a form left for me.

Hope this post will help u and other people to understand on how to get that CEMAR CRS Form #5. Goodluck to all of us.

Let me tell you a story of my Sister-In-Law's Interview Journey..

She got her Packet for Interview but didn't know anything about the Medical Exam 1st before the Interview..

So she came in on her interview with just the Interview letter and he passport. The pre-screener asked her, on where are her Medical papers she said she never had the exam yet, so the pre-screener talked with the consul on what to do. The consul asked her if she wanted to continue with the Interview then get her Medical and she agreed. All they asked her was Where does the petitioner lived?, What does he do?, How long are they married? Name?, and DOB, That's it.. They gave her a pink slip, and told her to get the medical ASAP and comeback to the embassy with the medical papers and passport.

All she had was Passport, and Interview Paper..

See the thing is I think they just want to verify the documents which they already have on your personal folder.

CENOMAR was required for your K1 interview but married people can't actually get a government certificate that says they aren't married, uh, because they are married. You're in the IR1/CR1 forum.

Very true pshbrk! But IR/CR K3 can get a NSO CEMAR Certificate of Marriage that shows your current marriage and past marriages.

K3s and CRs have been put on AR so the embassy can do their own CENMAR check.

If you apply for CENOMAR and you're married NSO will give you a copy of CEMAR.

My wife did and that's what happened!

Stick....

CEMAR is not CENOMAR

If the Consulate instructs the applicant to bring something they should bring it but a married person cannot obtain a CENOMAR. That is a true and correct statement. If they need a CEMAR, then by all means, get one.

YES, better to be safe and ready with your documents cuz like what other VJ'iers are posting, it always depend on the consul (interviewer) on what other documents they will ask, and most of their experiences is they've been asked for the CEMAR.
