EAD question again

Hey guys,

If I had my I-94 stamped with a EAD am I applying for a

1) Permission to accept employment

or for a

2) Renewal of my permission to accept employment?

I know the question might sound stupid but I don't know if the temporary EAD is considered as a regular one or not
