WOW! I missed some lyrics!

My 9 year old daughter just got her US Citizenship. Today she was "playing" on the PC and came out singing the Star Spangled Banner.

She finished singing what we all hear and "most" know as the Star Spangled Banner.

However she continued on with lyrics I've never heard.

Smart me said "that ain't the National Anthem"!

She showed me this print out and I was amazed as I NEVER knew there was more to the song than what we hear all the time.

Other lyrics to me are better than or just as good as the first verse!

Lots of entertainers and celebreties[sp] have trouble remembering the words to the first verse!

There would be a LOT of humming if they had to sing the entire song!

I also had to brush up on "God Bless America". I didn't want my filipina daughter thinking I didn't know it!

Yep, I was in 4th grade or so and everyone had to remember the entire song, all verses, and recite them for the class, poem style if we couldn't sing.

The Star Spangled Banner was not written originally as a Song but as a poem by Francis Scott Key. Ot was sometime later when it was adapted as the National anthem.
